  1. I’m sorry to say been there done that. Still no improvement. I have exhausted all possible avenues that I can think of and welcome any suggestions also I have adverts all over the place. desktop wallpaper with the email address to log calls on. A direct shortcut on their desktop that opens webmail and inserts the address in the to field A footnote on all my emails that states the easiest way to log a support call is to email this address. Tried to get SLT on board and they will email and direct staff the correct way but are hypocrites as they are the worse culprits With all that They still don’t go through the correct channels. I have run out of polite ways of advertising and gone for the non subtle approach of if you don’t log it, it doesn’t get done. I regularity use the excuse I’m busy on another job and to email me the job
  2. That’s my understanding but they are difficult to speak to anyone in a position that knows and physical lines aren’t the only question I need answering. Need details on active lines which no one at bt or in the school can answer. I was hoping that someone may know of a way or a service like Whois for domain names that would tell me who is providing on a particular phone line. I can expect my day tomorrow to be a frustrating one Thanks everyone
  3. Is there a way of querying telephone line providers like a Whois lookup on domain names?
  4. I’m an optimist and see the best in everyone. I was clearing wishing upon a star
  5. I started speaking to bt business who suggested i contact my business account manager at bt business local who was no help suggesting I speak to billing in Glasgow who then was very straight forward talking saying that he apologises, I should have never been put through to them as the enquiry doesn’t even remotely touch billing and gave me the details of some escalations manager back at bt local business who after several words and emails exchange got me nowhere. I did think should I try get hold of openreach but they harder to contact then trying to get telephone conversation with the queen herself. Tried that and they were no more helpful than BT. Been looking for the obvious providers but there is no obvious paper trail associating those numbers with a company. One of them is connected to a Cisco pbx, the other is connected to a fax machine but either no one knows who provides our phones or they are just being damn awkward. Whilst this should be easy for the connected services, this wouldn’t account for the lines that are disconnected which I am also interested in
  6. Apologies if I placed this in the wrong forum and TBH not sure how this question is deemed within an ICT technical scope, but any help would be appreciated as BT or the school staff are not very helpful in the slightest. Iv inherited this as no one seems to know or is willing/be bothered to investigate, and as you know what other people cant be bothered doing is instantly an ICT issue. I am trying to inventory all the physical phone lines that enter the building, determine whether it is active or not and work out the service/role it plays within the school. This is for the purpose of offering a disaster recovery plan in the event the server room burns down and have to relocate to a new comms rooms where I can get internet access from. You can see why I am involved now. Any questions I ask to colleagues who really should know are in no way helpful. The active phone lines were easy to find as I plugged a phone in to the bt points which in turn offers a dial tone and a number when I ring my mobile from it I have managed to find 3 numbers so far that are active but only one that BT can offer me information on is the one I knew about having had it installed myself and documented properly. The other two active lines BT state are not on BT systems Like I said I would like to know how many physical lines enter the building but BT are not being helpful. I would have expected at least that BT would have documentation/schematics of all the lines entering the property. Thanks in advance
  7. My solus 3 extracts updates to this folder so the installation folders are alway up to date. I agree that more clarity is needed and you need to identify whether you have a server side database issue, a deployment issue, or a client side issue? Do you know where the problem lies? If you cannot connect to CES network through SIMS deployment management then that sounds like your deployment service is mis configured. All it may be is that your solus 3 is not registered with capita to receive updates Your sims support will be able to register your solus 3
  8. The sims setup files tend to be located s:\sims\setups\... There are various setup files including simsinst.exe simsinfrastructuresetup.exe sqlinfrastructuresetup.exe etc etc If memory serves me correctly the server/client install of sims is in simsinst.exe but I imagine you would need to run sql and sims infrastructure setups to prep the server. On Tuesday I will have a look as I may still have install notes that I used when I clean installedsims on a 2012r2 server.
  9. Very little this holiday. I did have a full av installation in one of our rooms but got shelved due to funding complications. Was the only exciting project I had on. Run cabling to an office off a classroom to move a phone Two rooms recable av setup Update a very out dated documentation. Windows update servers then go pull the updates on laptops and tablets etc Generally service all my ICT suites
  10. Thanks @HPlum78 those are exactly the results I needed.
  11. hi @NetSupportTechSupport thank you for your help. resolved my issue. Great service
  12. Afternoon all Planning migration and wondered is there a way of interrogating exchange thru PS or EMC that will list all mailboxes that have any additional delegated users or have have a forwarding address assigned Thanks
  13. Hello all I have a 250 computer license and I can no longer install the agent on any more computers. I very much doubt I have used all the licenses but when I try run the installer as it claims the license has expired. How are the licenses calculated? can they be duplicated if the computer is rebuilt and the software reinstalled? This is the only feasible explanation I can come up with as all other agents are working under the same license key. Thanks Paul
  14. It may seem strict but not really very time consuming as they have no privileges really to set. my user accounts are script generated. Stick their first name, surname, username in a txt file and run 2 scripts. less than a minutes work. Staff and student accounts take me longer as they are registered on O365, SLG, sims, remote access etc. I have to wait at least 30 mins for O365 to sync so I can allocated a license to the user
  15. Each supply has their own account for accountability reasons. Personally I don't agree with shared accounts even though only one person will be accessing it at anyone time, the control is taken out of my hands. Network Accounts are only active on the days the user is in. No mis. email access is provided. Access to staff shares are prohibited. redirected Supply share which is a folder in within the staff share where staff upload work to equip the covering teacher to do his or her job. EDIT All remote services are prohibited Account is deleted after at least one year of inactive duty There are some exceptions for long term supply (mat cover etc) where their privileges can be increased if required and approved by SLT upto a normal staff account
  16. Just thinking out loud My first thought would have been timeout within the connect.ini on the sims server. If you have a redirect change it to include a longer timeout within the sims install location Second thought is a timeout setting in sql database management
  17. We stuck with o365 and in my opinion not looking to move away. There were some half hearted requested from staff recently but not enough to trial g suite. G suite had a year or so that they were the better product over ms but ms have since matched their rivals.
  18. I have a student it happen too right next to me. Nothing appears in the application event log. I log her off and I log on to the same computer then print the same document it prints fine. I remove her profile ask her to log on again resolved the issue. But I don’t know why. There is a problem somewhere but haven’t got to bottom of what’s causing it. It must be something in the cached profile but what???
  19. Tried it. I delprof2 all the cached users on all the computers the other night but the symptoms have returned
  20. Really odd I have had complaints of random users not being able to print from random computers to a specific printer. The problem seems to follow the user to different computers that have this printer attached. Print credits aren’t deducted and paper cut doesn’t report the job being sent. If I log on as a test student account on to the same computer and print the same document as the problem student is, the print out is successful. I have had some success in removing the local cached profile but symptoms seem to return. It’s a hp laserjet m553 running on a server 2008r2 server deployed to windows 7 x64 clients. We have paper cut running on the server. Some history I recently changed the print driver to UPD following a problem where the original print driver caused desktop loading issues. Since I have been having these random issues Thanks
  21. It transpired that I had already put a solution in place this time last year but the teacher in question had put it in the drawer for some reason and forgotten about it. I had bought one of these which she seemed extremely pleased about when I demonstrated how it works. http://www.inta-audio.com/clearance-c234/trust-usb-desktop-microphone-with-3-5mm-mini-jack-b-stock-p10976/s10983?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=trust-usb-desktop-microphone-with-3-5mm-mini-jack-b-stock-cs29336-bs&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI79CR_YHu2QIVGcayCh2cVAKPEAQYASABEgLYvPD_BwE
  22. Lol a while then. Just shows not many people know about it as I paid a £4 library lost book fine in 1p after the library claimed I hadn’t returned the book. I had genuinely returned it but they must have lost it in the administration of the returns. after a couple weeks of arguing I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle. The battle axe was not going to back down
  23. When did that come illegal. Inspired by people doing it on tv programs, I always try and make an effort to pay rude suppliers / bankers looking for me to pay a fine or something in the most difficult way possible
  24. You can use the ntuser.ini to calculate the age by including the switch /ntuserini in your script Must be a glitch that they are aware of. Can’t think why they would include this switch for any other reason
