we now have 14 patch cabs.... the 2 42U ones next to each other in the server roon had a mess like clarksons belly - hanging over about a foot out into the room. in the first year's summer holiday we hit it and reduced and tidyed it alot. then removed more and moved things about - this break just gone we removed 96 patch cables (room now being used as foot tech you see). so thats more cables gone... now we have a server room looking like a server room and not a cable closet. i wonder if i have pics neware... unfortunatly not but her's some others. Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook Matt Jones Fotos | Facebook i have more but have no idea where they are. in our server room we have 51 pairs of fibre to places around the school we can use (one being the internet link).

we have a copper, wifi and ethernet over power network here. and all i can say is thank god for the wired gigabit. semi-detached house, when me bro's room was done up i ran cables up from the study in the wall into the loft then accross and down in other rooms. in the study is the server and printers and mum nd dads workstation, i have the modem in my room untill we redo the study phone line (is a pre ADSL line, and rough), will be moving the garage from eth over power to cat6 as well as the outhose 100ft down the garden. basically eth over power has issues with latency alot of the time and mine dont like surge protectors or 4 gangs with neons in. and even then it's unreliable in my experiance. wifi is wifi and usefull but slow when 5 laptops or more use it (very regular here) gigabit is nice when moving files to and from the storage on the server. if you can run network in the walls do it. if you never use it no worries but it's hard to retofit. and you can always use all of them like we do. in terms of what to do... treat it like a school, find a central place to run all cables to (here it would have been under the stairs with the main phone line and the 'fuse board') run all your cable to there and use that as your 'hub'/router if u have a space like that. use in wall mounted boxes with nice faceplates at both ends. if you can rout cable the same way as TV/radio, phone and preferably not in the same ducts/way as mains cables (tho for a house this shouldn't matter.) if upstairs go up to the loft, if downstairs go into the floor. typically the ceiling of downstairs is difficult to access should a fault occour. hope this helps.

Our Bees - Been a week and we have progress which is good....
mjs_mjs replied to mattx's topic in General Chat
Wow - I've always wanted to keep bees but have no idea where to start. That hive looks like it's growing quickly. Great stuff going on. -
Our head wants it so as soon as it's out we'll probably start looking to roll it out. Which is great if it works?

ICT Training for Under 25 ICT Technicians with no degree
mjs_mjs replied to ctbjs's topic in Courses and Training
sounds interesting - I've contacted them to ask if I'm eligible 19 and have no degree... thumbs up for me on this occasion. -
We're after someone but the head cant find the budget apparently. Even tho we do have the money for another 100 machines this year... Both me and my boss did work experience before we got the jobs (at different times), and it really is worth it - lots more hands on experience and lots of school politics to observe. We have had 5 work experience since the start of this academic year one is now one day a week.

I think it can become an interesting debate as to if you allow cash/cheque. I'm sure somewhere in law you HAVE TO allow cash as it is a legal form of tender. but don't quote me on it 'cos I'm not sure.
-
ParentPay here - They no longer accept cheques/cash in the school unless it's the only way....

hummm it's a 20 min walk for me - is it really worth it? i do cycle sometimes if i'm up late - it is quicker but i get a little warm.
-
Yes you can get a shell type house (a basic one) built for that sort of money. assuming you already own the land/ around here you cannot build anything without having off street parking and access to the house.
-
My dads a builder and he's done it before (not in our garden tho), What do you wanna know and i'll ask him. I expect you'll need planning for starters.

If they are saying you have to block inheritance, i assume of GPO's, then they must be a reason behind it. Is it one setting that should be left as something? You could always try and find out which policy is causing the problems and just deny that one to the OU or find the setting it requires and have another GPO for his which u apply with the software? simply doing what they have said may solve the issue, but knowing why that works would be a better step to finding a better solution (better being you don't have to disable inheritance.) my 2pence neway.

Had a shave this morning and need to again now if I wanted to be non stubbly. Generally I let it grow until it itches so much I have to shave. I don't really like shaving. I've had to wet shave since was 14, before that it was a year of electric shaving (I hate them) the tash. If it doesn't itch me to hell the only other reason I have for shaving is the GF. Otherwise I'll let it grow (like my hair hair) 8" long now - I actually have to brush it daily.

What backup are you using?

As payroll is done externally, there would be no need for personnel to be linked with FMS. You could still manage your personnel from within sims.net surely. Yes FMS is set up for school/educational use but a good book keeper/accountant/bursar/someone with the sage for dummies book should have no trouble doing that within sage either. It'll be allot more flexible than FMS. The software is only as good as the person sitting in front of it.
