Had same here... had to go back to backup... lost some files. Sent data to Data recovery experts Ransomware Data Recovery - Services - Red Mosquito | Glasgow | Scotland | UK- no fix, no fee. Unfortunately they couldn't unlock the files but worth a try. Found the PC, user came and lots of windows open on screen with ransom notes. If you look in their MY Documents folder there will be a -!recover!-!file!.txt (public key) which the data company will need. Needless to say reimaged the PC and have taken steps with more backups etc. This virus will also kill shadow copies and any NAS robocopy, xcopy etc backups of same data. Good Luck.

Thanks. That's what we have done i.e. exported in batches and I've put a support request in for the reindex so hopefully this will sort things out.

When we try to do a whole school CTF export SIMS takes forever or sometimes times out. This is on the server or workstations. Everything else runs fine, and other CTF exports are not a problem, it is only when the whole school is selected with all details which we need to update our SPTO system. Anyone seen similar or got any ideas?

Having problems with B2B in Sims.net Immediate task runs OK and generates XML file and posts it. However, scheduled tasks don't work. Scheduled task runs OK and launches the B2B application but get error in SIMS of "error while generating file". on checking B2BTransaction.log the following is the cause. System.IndexOutOfRangeException: There is no row at position 0. Been through the whole reconfiguring scheduled tasks etc, but I get the same result if I open an elevated command prompt and then run the NONUIB2B.exe with arguments. Support have suggested that I didn't have all versions of .net installed, checked this have 2.0, 3.5 and 4 installed (Server 2008 R2). Anyone had similar or know what is causing this as it's driving me mad.

Used to have this "software" thankfully dumped it now and gone over to Classroom Monitor. However used to deploy via GPO you need to copy entire CD contents into a share that is accessible via UNC on your network and then add the MSI into the correct GPO under computer/software installation. You need to make sure that TT is uninstalled first on machines you are deploying to as it don't upgrade but fails miserably - if you have deployed via GP then you can remove Via GP if not add/remove programs on every PC that has it installed - make no mistake that there will be lots of restarting and generally fannying about to get the blooming thing to install and run correctly! Target Tracker "support" haven't got a clue regarding network installation so don't waste your breath as the official line is they don't support networks and only know how to install from CD and remove via add/remove programs - part of the reason we've dumped tracker here is their lack of support - apart from that good luck.

Solved; Managed to fix this: was a dirty sensor under the front cover of the printer: cotton bud sorted this.

Just got this error via email from our Dell 1320N printer: Service Call: (009-340:00002000:Contact customer support if this failure is repeated. Anyone any ideas? - have tried restart etc printer starts OK then get error light on printer can still access web interface etc. Typical: printer is out of warranty and I've just recently bought new cartridges for it.

Yes, I can confirm the few times I have used them they have been extremly helpful. Other "educational" software compaines need to take a leaf out of Sherston's book and get people who know what they are doing/talking about and actually know about networks and even their own software, as more often than not their support is abysmal and you're left to solve problems on your own.

Due to the sudden death of our Bursar, a new appointment has been made the persons involved (including myself and our accountant) are quite unfamiliar with FMS and having used it for the last week or so have come to learn just how awkward it is to do things on. As this is the end of the financial year our accountant has suggested dumping FMS once the year end is done and moving over to Sage. Some schools he supports use Sage and he has said that it is alot more simple to use and understand. We are a foundation school and whilst we process our own orders/invoices etc payroll is done externally with us only having to import a file via automatic reconsilliation etc. Has anyone moved away from FMS to another accounting system e.g. Sage? If so what problems/limitation/gotchas are there? also what possitive aspects are there of doing this? Thanks

Comic Sans (Doh!)

Wait till you start using it "in the real world" not in the world of Target Tracker then you'll find out what's wrong and how much time you'll spend resolving problems, getting the thing to run/install on your network, getting fobbed off by their "support" people and generally getting throughly cheesed off!

If your school is going to go down this road then you have my symphany!

Primary Target Tracker and EYFS Tracker. Thank God that we are moving away from these soon, we are phasing in Classroom Monitor which is 100% better that this rubbish with its clueless support as well.
