Had same here... had to go back to backup... lost some files. Sent data to Data recovery experts Ransomware Data Recovery - Services - Red Mosquito | Glasgow | Scotland | UK- no fix, no fee. Unfortunately they couldn't unlock the files but worth a try. Found the PC, user came and lots of windows open on screen with ransom notes. If you look in their MY Documents folder there will be a -!recover!-!file!.txt (public key) which the data company will need. Needless to say reimaged the PC and have taken steps with more backups etc. This virus will also kill shadow copies and any NAS robocopy, xcopy etc backups of same data. Good Luck.

Thanks. That's what we have done i.e. exported in batches and I've put a support request in for the reindex so hopefully this will sort things out.

When we try to do a whole school CTF export SIMS takes forever or sometimes times out. This is on the server or workstations. Everything else runs fine, and other CTF exports are not a problem, it is only when the whole school is selected with all details which we need to update our SPTO system. Anyone seen similar or got any ideas?

Having problems with B2B in Sims.net Immediate task runs OK and generates XML file and posts it. However, scheduled tasks don't work. Scheduled task runs OK and launches the B2B application but get error in SIMS of "error while generating file". on checking B2BTransaction.log the following is the cause. System.IndexOutOfRangeException: There is no row at position 0. Been through the whole reconfiguring scheduled tasks etc, but I get the same result if I open an elevated command prompt and then run the NONUIB2B.exe with arguments. Support have suggested that I didn't have all versions of .net installed, checked this have 2.0, 3.5 and 4 installed (Server 2008 R2). Anyone had similar or know what is causing this as it's driving me mad.

Used to have this "software" thankfully dumped it now and gone over to Classroom Monitor. However used to deploy via GPO you need to copy entire CD contents into a share that is accessible via UNC on your network and then add the MSI into the correct GPO under computer/software installation. You need to make sure that TT is uninstalled first on machines you are deploying to as it don't upgrade but fails miserably - if you have deployed via GP then you can remove Via GP if not add/remove programs on every PC that has it installed - make no mistake that there will be lots of restarting and generally fannying about to get the blooming thing to install and run correctly! Target Tracker "support" haven't got a clue regarding network installation so don't waste your breath as the official line is they don't support networks and only know how to install from CD and remove via add/remove programs - part of the reason we've dumped tracker here is their lack of support - apart from that good luck.

Solved; Managed to fix this: was a dirty sensor under the front cover of the printer: cotton bud sorted this.

Just got this error via email from our Dell 1320N printer: Service Call: (009-340:00002000:Contact customer support if this failure is repeated. Anyone any ideas? - have tried restart etc printer starts OK then get error light on printer can still access web interface etc. Typical: printer is out of warranty and I've just recently bought new cartridges for it.

Yes, I can confirm the few times I have used them they have been extremly helpful. Other "educational" software compaines need to take a leaf out of Sherston's book and get people who know what they are doing/talking about and actually know about networks and even their own software, as more often than not their support is abysmal and you're left to solve problems on your own.

Due to the sudden death of our Bursar, a new appointment has been made the persons involved (including myself and our accountant) are quite unfamiliar with FMS and having used it for the last week or so have come to learn just how awkward it is to do things on. As this is the end of the financial year our accountant has suggested dumping FMS once the year end is done and moving over to Sage. Some schools he supports use Sage and he has said that it is alot more simple to use and understand. We are a foundation school and whilst we process our own orders/invoices etc payroll is done externally with us only having to import a file via automatic reconsilliation etc. Has anyone moved away from FMS to another accounting system e.g. Sage? If so what problems/limitation/gotchas are there? also what possitive aspects are there of doing this? Thanks

Wait till you start using it "in the real world" not in the world of Target Tracker then you'll find out what's wrong and how much time you'll spend resolving problems, getting the thing to run/install on your network, getting fobbed off by their "support" people and generally getting throughly cheesed off!

If your school is going to go down this road then you have my symphany!

Primary Target Tracker and EYFS Tracker. Thank God that we are moving away from these soon, we are phasing in Classroom Monitor which is 100% better that this rubbish with its clueless support as well.

I have a seperate server and use this Open Source Web Gallery For Photos, Video, Audio, and Documents. Then have a share on the sever that Galleryserver is pointing at and staff can copy photos into folders that they can also create. Then when the database is sychronised the photos appear in the gallery. Means I don't have hundreds of photos hidden all over the main server that nobody looks at. Periodically look in staff home folders and If I find any photos I move then onto Gallery server - staff are pretty good and put them in Gallery server share as a rule as initially I did threaten to delete any potos found in home folders after I had set this facility up. Works well for me anyway.

Jingle Bells Dashing through the snow In a one horse open sleigh O'er the fields we go Laughing all the way A risk assessment must be submitted before an open sleigh is considered safe for members of the public to travel on. the risk assessment must also consider whether it is appropriate to use only one horse for such a venture, particularly if passengers are of larger proportions. Please note, permission must be gained from landowners before entering their fields. To avoid offending those not participating in celebrations, we would request that laughter is moderate only and not loud enough to be considered a noise nuisance While Shepherds Watched While shepherds watched Their flocks by night All seated on the ground The angel of the Lord came down And glory shone around The Union of Shepherds has complained that it breaches health and safety regulations to insist that shepherds watch their flocks without appropriate seating arrangements being provided. Therefore, benches, stools and orthopaedic chairs are now available. Shephers have also requested that due to the inclement weather conditions at this time of year they should watch their flocks via CCTV from centrally heated shepherd observation huts. Please note: The Angel of the Lord is reminded that before shining his/her glory all around she/he must ascertain that all shepherds have been issued with glasses capable of filtering out the harmful effects of UVA, UVB and Glory.

Hi, anyone have this? (i.e. the new web-based system). I know there are posts on Edugeek about Classroom Monitor but can only find old stuff about locally installed not web-based system. Our assistant head is seeing a rep from these people tomorrow Classroom Monitor – Online pupil tracking & reporting with APP, EYFS, Keystage 1 - 3, P-Scales, SEAL I want to know the pitfalls and any problems or indeed good points, lack of problems and positive feedback. We seem to have had quite a few assessment and monitoring packages over the last few years (some trully awful and an absolute PITA "Target Tracker" anyone?) so it would be good to hear some good news for once about something that is easy to manage and use. Thanks.

Does the telephone system fall under your remit?

Teachers use it all the time across all year groups (primary), has gone down a storm and has replaced many of the aging programs they were using.

Get the auto Upload Module from Softlink (about £75 per year). Loads your data automatically from SIMS (Providing that your Alice system can see the SIMS server). Puts all your borrower records into correct year groups, imports new borrowers, migrates classes etc and saves all the hassle of messing about with CSV imports etc. Used to have all the messing about each year with year roll over importing borrowers etc now nothing. Only thing librarian may have to do is alter borrower barcodes if you choose not to use the autogenerated ones used for new borrowers by the update module. Money well spent.

Could be that the layers within the board itself are stuck together. There is a membrane under the white board surface, if this becomes stuck then the board doesn't work properly. (Had that here on a couple of boards). Trying using a soft cloth and applying gentle pressure to the board and rubbing it all over to see if that is indeed the problem and releases it. There is also a reset button near to where the USB cable fits into the board (you'll need to use a pen for this). Board may also need a physical reset. Hope this helps.

Are you using a powered USB port? Smartboards don't like going through a passive (i.e. non-powered) USB hub. Must either be a mains powered USB hub or built in USB port on the PC to drive the smartboard correctly. You'll find that all will appear fine until you try and interact with the smartboard if a non-powered port is used. The error you're experiencing is an Installshield error. Go into Program files\common files\installshield and delete the drivers folder - reboot the PC and try again. If that fails try deleting everything in the above folder (You may need to remove references in the registry to installshield as well)- reboot and try again. I have tried both these methods with installs that have shown this error and it's fixed them. Installshield is a pain for this with different installs, installing different versions of the installshiel scripting engine. Hope this helps.
