  1. Saw them at sonisphere before iorn maiden. Alot of people were bouncing to them, but t'was a weird sight. There not bad live, and i like Rob's production but i think they've aimed tooo poppy and not enough dub/dnb.
  2. Everyone already uses open source. the likelihood is that this web page (or it's parts) coming to me went through 3-30 proxy/load ballancing/cache servers, all of the ones i know about were OSS, so local cache (squid), LGFL (squid) ect. I'm also pretty sure that all of the switches and routers on site are using a linux variant and/or include OSS code. And alot of govt website use open source tech like php. I think it's a common misconception that the govt doesn't use OSS, they do, but without knowing it.
  3. i might, looks like an interesting job.
  4. i would sit them all for the A+ by year nine or abouts, have play rooms full of stuff that the students can play with so destops, ram hd's ect.... and i would go for a more university approach to learning, obv in the first year you'ld have to teach the student skills like how to google correctly, word process, print and e-mail. then rather than teach fact based subject, get them to resheach them. the flaw in my design is that some 11-15 year olds arn't capable of this and as a youth worker i do believe that my idea would be great fun, but alot of skills would be missing from their lives. did i mention alot of pool tables and tea making stations?
  5. retirement - lol, i don't think I'll ever retire.
  6. bit of OO bashing going on there.
  7. i wonder if i could do the same?
  8. same - i've got my hat on when i walk to work, and put a jumper on between buildings - dont usually do that for a while longer yet. heating went on in our house 2 days ago. if i open the windows it gets cold quickly in the office where i sit, My prediction (and i'm no weatherman), Late November we'll see snow somewhere in the county (england), A white Christmas, and a hot summer next year.
  9. use different browsers - or use one in outlook and one in OWA - or use a full blown app like outlook for access to both mail boxes via imap?
  10. also check the hierarchy of the group policies there may be one higher up explicitly allowing them access to those features.
  11. that's something special - how can i do it?
  12. we have konica minolta bizhub 360's i think (2 of) in our staff room. there photocopiers but linked to ad so users can scan stright to e-mail and print ect.
  13. 70 pc's wothout ram, laptops, amplifiers, 21" crt and a 17" crt.... all taken.
  14. we used PRM recenty - took everything we had for them and gave us all certification and a data destruction certificate with all the HD serial numbers on ect. EDIT; they were free also.
  15. One way you could get into allot of good books/contact books is offering this information free on the web eg images ect, then allow people to buy pre configure hardware from you ect. Yes it means giving stuff away free but it'll raise your online profile and people are more likely to trust your products if they've already tried them for free and they've liked them.
  16. and now the brother is getting one also.
  17. many thanks to all of you for your comments, i now have a clip from amazon, arived today and currently uploading my music to it. the audio chip doesn't sound to bad at all but it is tiny really. lol. thanks guys.
  18. very well done there. that is exactly how things should be IMO
  19. kwl, many thanks - it also has a voice recorder built in which is kwl.
  20. thank you very much - 8GB for £44 isn't a bad price ither. Sansa Clip 8GB just to comfirm, can i drag and drop onto it like a USB removable device as i'll be using it across windows, macs and linux machines.
  21. i'm after an mp3/wav/flac player (as many formats as possible), that has a good audio chip, 3.5 jack for headphones, and doesn't have a requirement for any specific software. if possible i would like to have folders on the device (as thats how my music is structured alredy) and for it to be able to create and play playlists. oh and it should be rechargeable by usb.
  22. Cisco SLM2048 Cisco Small Business 48 Port Gigabit Smart Switch - Misco.co.uk - £380, that what i was on about.
  23. the cisco/linksys slm2024, 2048 arn't bad - there not the best but 24/48Gb ports, SFP's, and some management features such as vlan and agregating links/truning/bonding. 48Gb ports for under 500quid i think. we use them, a hp procurve 5406vz core switch and some older 3com superstack 3 on our network, no problems with the 10+ cisco/linksys so far.
  24. you can change it through group policy i think and apply the GP to group which you then make a machine a member of.
  25. also for me
