bummer - alot of our software (rm and tutor) use broadcasting....
-
Yes it will, it wont really cause a problem for you technically but users will try and open documents twice and wonder why changing them on one isn't changed on another or why their sims assessment sheet is blank as they've opened it on another computer else where left it blank and it's overwritten it in sims. in short the problem is not a technical one but a user one. there are issues about roaming profiles but in general it's a last profile writes back last takes precedance. best to avoid allowing them to log on in two places at the same time, not to mention better security.

we're cc4 and pcaounter - what ya after?
-
ahh, so it would mean that broadcast stuff like WOL couldn't be sent accross the network?
-
One thing to note - when restating a server/rm service host - clear out you cache/proxies folders as it speeds thing up so much.... someone at rm gave me a script that does it automatically - very useful.

try forcing it to use them by going through dev man, device, driver update, then locating the smart driver, tho i cant remember where it is as since packaging up the 10.1 driver i no longer have the issue. smart do have an msi driver pack which did also work for us since moving to 10.1/10.6. have a play with the smart admin tools for making custom mst's for their msi's and deploying these, there alot more stable than any other type of install i've done. when i first looked at packaging it up myself it took over 100 hours of work, and was still glitchy, the tools solved all of my issues apart from group content (which no one uses anyway). just realised that's saying the same stuff twice really. You can also use a normal serial cable to connect to the boards. I assume you have a 500 series board? it may be worth trying that also.

Also sage 50's and payroll user interface is nice. And it's very easy to support, the amount of updates i've done to it without a hickup, very simple to back up and cheaper than FMS as you wont need an SQL lisence/server for it. I'm not a book keeper or bursar but i know how to use sage just by looking at it. When/if my buisness ever takes off i'll be reading the sage line 50/instant for dummies books and getting stuck in.

hiya - our job list is like 5 pages here - there 2 members tied up....

upto being the key word.... putting 63A into a rack is allot of power and i would be concerned with that. do you have access to a power meter? as yes they may be rated upto but realistically it's probably less. Also 8*1500 is 12KW which basically will be heat, how much cooling do you have available for that? i personally would be more inclined to get out a meter or buy a cheep one and look at how much power is ACTUALLY being used. i asume you have redundant power supplies so you should be able to do that without any downtime.

our network is smaller than most of yours and we have 1022 possible addresses, all on one subnet, about 500 actual machines - what improvements could i make to speed things up? (we just have installed a hp540something vz switch if that helps)
-
i'm likeing the student vlan id 666, little devils.
-
it's pointless talking about supplies until you know what exactly is going into them....
-
What devices will be in the rack? as a rough guide 13a is 3.12KW, 16a is 3.84KW. hope that helps?

congrats, i've put mine on hold for a bit as work is manic, but will be looking to do mine in jan now i think.

lol - i'm gunna move over soon that looks too good to be true - maybe i'll play a trick on the head also.... haha

It is possible to merge non cc3 to cc3, but you'll need a very good understanding of how the CC3 GPO's work. Also, have you thought about moving the smaller/less working domain onto the larger/more working domain and then only having one domain to manage. We use a unified approach here and it really does save time and headache.
-
I'm quite tempted to do it off my own back also - dunno 500+vat and then about 140 for accommodation and then 60 for travel.... soon adds up - is it really worth that to me personally? or for 1500 they come to you.... hummmmm anyone in south east london/kent want to do it?

RM have just sent a builiten out with the following in it, Event Detail i would love to do it but 500 + 2 nights stay may be a bit expensive for the school/or me, can i do the course cheeper elsewhere or self study for it?
-
we had this on xp where the drivers wern't installing, and it was picking up a default usb serial convertor. Have a look and try forcing the smart driver for it, see if it helps.
-
or just type the username of the folder and leave it as it is (i do this)
-
have you tried logging on as a domain admin and seeing if you can remotely then as i think that you can configure access to the previous version tab via GPO's.
-
Speak to RM, they fixed ours for for us. Try restarting all your server too.

Just ask science for their most powerful magnet, or hammer as mentioned, even better is burn the platters in a fume cupboard.
-
although - we sent one and he did get a skirting bored ladder.... and you can now buy left handed screwdrivers (they could even one up and get you one suitable for both left and right.)
