I would use Power Automate for this. Create a flow that takes from the date column and creates an event in a specific calendar. You would be best to do this at the point when the item is added to the list in the first place.

We've rolled it out across our MAT of 28 schools a few months ago. It has certainly been a positive move from our previous platform (Sophos XG firewalls). The filtering itself has worked very well as you would expect. The big benefits for us have been around the fact that it is independent of our network so all devices are filtered, regardless of location. Secondly, it is so much easier to look at the logs, spot trends and identify potential issues compared to other platforms that I have used. As things stand, the move to Securly has been a positive one.

An alternative would be to look at creating a retention policy in 365.

We use 365 Mail and Google Classroom. I remain unconvinced that the two are mutually exclusive. Notifications regarding Google Classroom activity just go to the 365 mailbox.

One of the annoyances is that files are not automatically labelled if a label is applied to a container. The label has to be applied to each file individually. Users can be alerted by an automated email if there is a label mismatch between the file and its container. Ideally, I would use power automate to auto apply a label to any file in a folder, but that functionality isn't there (at least with the licences that I have got). There is a clear pattern for us when it comes to data breaches - human error. I'm fortunate in that I'm in a position to drive the roll out of labelling to remove human error from the equation (to a degree). I'm also thinking about how we use Power Automate to help with this - for example auto labelling everything that is put in a particular folder. We are applying the labels directly in office which certainly streamlines things a bit. An added complication is the fact that you can apply a label to a container (Sharepoint/365 Group/Teams) or directly to a file. I still haven't really worked out the benefit of applying a label to a container and as such I've come to the conclusion (for now) that we are better off focusing on the individual file for the time being.

Hi all, I am keen to start using sensitivity labelling across our Office 365 network to categorise confidential data and control access and sharing. My initial focus will be on labelling documents containing personal data including safeguarding, SEND and HR data which will greatly improve our data protection compliance in terms of access control and retention. Has anyone had a go at rolling this out? Any thoughts on best practice for label categories/types (our needs are likely to be broadly similar across edu settings)?

I agree, but how can you enforce that and ensure that it is being done, short of auditing different inboxes.

The difficulty with linking a data retention policy with how long emails should be kept is that this is dependent on the content of the email. What if email contains SEN information? What if the email contains HR info about someone who has now left? The two data types would probably have different retention requirements, governed by legislation. If this data is not held elsewhere and email is used as a filing cabinet for random attached documents it is hard to effectively enforce a retention policy.

Same here - Teams was a nice tidy solution but the cost was prohibitive. We have lots of extensions in classrooms and shared areas, some of which get very little use. The licencing model for Teams is just not designed for this. Went for a hosted 3CX solution and haven't looked back. It has proved it's worth in recent times - staff using the system from home to check up on vulnerable pupils.

We've started to take deliveries of Chromebooks at our schools. In each instance we have received the Chromebook and cover - but no record of the management licence. Any ideas how we get hold of that and link it to our Google tenancy...?
