Hi All

been a member here for a little while and only just found this introduction page, so who am I? To be fair I was one of Piggy Malones crew now going it alone as myself Charlie Farley (charlie 13 thousand 5 hundred and 61 to be precis). Its good to know help and advice is always at hand with such a large collection of edugeeks, I will be pretty active over the next few months as I get to grips to the changes to safeguarding and what it actually means for the server/hardware/software change requirements. Still not seen anything about the RM Safetynet changes to allow individual logging which was murmured about in July, so I had better get reading!

Hi

I have been in "IT" since 1974. We used to call it "computers". I now have more processing power on my wrist than we had in a room the size of two average classrooms. As you can guess, I'm getting on a bit. After a career in the software industry, I gave up latterly being the IT manager of a well known independant boarding school in 2009 and now do a consulting work at local schools both public and private around Wokingham and Bracknell. I have a wealth of accumulated kowledge but still need to resort to places like this every time Microsoft release a new set of "updates" which fix something that wasn't broken.

I will be posting soon on issues with Windows 10 Education version.

Get your Arthurs sorted out whippersnapper!

Welcome @ArthurDent. It's good to have someone else join the more "mature" end of the age-spectrum of Edugeek. There are quite a few of us not senile enough to forget punch cards and paper tape :)

Welcome Arthur... I was beginning to think I was the only one here who was old enough to have had intimate knowledge of a mainframe.

Well - not sure about "intimate" but there are some of us who certainly know our mainframes :)

Welcome @ArthurDent

Nice to have some along who knew about computers when "real programmers" still existed

When Windows and GUIs get too much I read The Story of Mel until I understand it again - then I know I'm grounded again
