Yeah this is what we used (2 port) for splitting and it eliminated the issue.

it is normally the power coming from the output of the VGA and it being split that causes loss of power and the flickering. This can be prevented by moving wires around and earthing etc. But it does come back. you could try a splitter if you have one powered by USB see if it makes a difference (don't have to use the second port just see if this little bit of power makes a difference). I am saying this because i have had issues like this when i split screen to projector and not using powered splitters.
