love facebook. its like myspace without all the seizure inducing graphics

that's exactly what I love - deleted my Myspace now. It's like networking in a wiki! :) edit: Actually, maybe networking is the wrong word for a tech forum... it's good to write messages to people and look at photos of them drunk... much better...

1) It's not blocked here at present although I suspect it's only a matter of time before IFL decide to add it. I'm not too fussed with its use in our school as it only seems to be our Sixth Formers who use it.

2) I am on Facebook; it's a really friendly interface and I like the way the home page presents updates on all your friends. I'm also on MySpace but I only read that, I don't post to it.

Its not blocked by the LEA here, but it is via our in house censornet box.

I am not on any of these type of things Myspace, Faceparty etc.

It has been blocked by our LEA - but teachers have access to it (they use a different port number).

I am on it - and have pretended to remember a lot of people from my past as a result.

We have it blocked here and i am on facebook to quite like it compared to myspace and others like that.

In my school we are using a open source my space look a like and get the kids to use that. Atleast we can then monitor and moderate it.

It's always a personal debate... I'm just nosey and love to find out what everyone is up to. It's the people that you really didn't know, say, you met once, drunk at a party who you don't want to offend by not accepting their friend invite...

I love facebook anyway. I'm back in contact with a few people that I just lost touch with and hopefully we'll meet up soon with more than ever to talk about...

1. Yes we block it

You have tried to access a web page which is in violation of your internet usage policy.

URL: http://www.facebook.com

Category: Personals and Dating

2. Yes I am on it - come find me and we can be friends ;)

(or start an 'edugeek - all your IT answers questioned here' group :)

I think an Edugeek group is necessary... can we ex-pat Edugeekers join as well?!

It was blocked at our old school, as any 'social networking' site was (when I was there, anyway).

I prefer Facebook to MySpace as users feel no need to 'pimp' their spaces, one standard format seems to work well, for all. It's clean, simple and easy to manage (in my view).

Blocked by our LEA here, must confess I had never heard of it before this thread. (not really my thing these sites), will have to take a look at it tonight at home now and see what its all about

No reason why we can't start an 'EduGeek - We know the answers and are not going to tell you them...' group )
How about the 'EduGeek - Have you tried switching it off and then on again?' group?

Blocked here by LEA

Im on it though, love it. Never really liked myspace but facebook is great. Not really got in touch with any old friends yet but its a good way to keep in touch with current friends and upload pictures from nights out or just old pictures

I like to think of it as a grown up myspace - no need for a page full of stupid flash gadgets, videos and backgrounds which render the text unreadable

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I've recently joined Facebook and I'm in the EduGeek Group. So feel free to add me as a friend. Also new EduGeek members can request to join the EduGeek Group via Tony or russ (I think?).
