localzuk Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Whilst I was away from the school at a job interview, our librarian needed a new toner. She picked out the wrong one, and this is the poem she wrote of the event. Best read in a southwest accent. ODE TO TONER My printer needed toner; I knew what I must do, For Tony was in distant parts to start his life anew. I wandered to the cupboard so I wouldn’t be a bother But instead of getting Epson, I alighted on a Brother! I took it from its packet and to the library flew, But though I had the cyan, I still was feeling blue! I realised my error, I had the perfect hue, But a Brother ain’t an Epson, so what’s a girl to do? I returned it to its wrapper, replaced it on the shelf, I closed the door behind me and then removed myself. But my conscience kept on pricking me; I knew that I’d been bad, ‘Cos you mess with Tony’s toner and all you’ll feel is sad! And so I keep on ‘cyan’, for how things might have been If I hadn’t been a plonker, and kept my fingers clean! So please, forgive me Tony, I didn’t mean to do it’ But when it comes to toner..........I think I went and ‘blue’ it!!!! 4
SW-ICT Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 That ... IS ... SOOO ....GOOOD!!! Did she come up with that randomly?
aerospacemango Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 If you read it in a Pam Ayres style, it is brilliant! +1 rep for your librarian!
localzuk Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 That ... IS ... SOOO ....GOOOD!!! Did she come up with that randomly? Yeah, she does things like that randomly. She's awesome.
Tricky_Dicky Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 That's fantastic. Most staff would have just blamed me for having the wrong toner in stock.
penfold Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Is there some way we can +REP the librarian Yeah, you'll have to pass on how impressed we all are...she's published now
bossman Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 +1 for the librarian, I too read it in a Pam Ayres style excellent
synaesthesia Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Brilliant if only all staff were so creative! Admission to taking something, humbleness, and an explanation all in one very well written poem - she should be published!
Rawns Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 A great poem, and made even better having a good old Somerset accent!
