  2. Just removing the adaptor and re adding now. Yes other DCs are running fine through it.
  3. Hi, We've got 3 DCs. The main one is DC-02 and it has gone down for reasons that I can't figure out. It's a virtual machine running 2008R2 and the LAN is showing as Authentication failed. DC-01 has picked and is working, but I'm really not comfortable with this. Any ideas why it's done this and how to fix it or what the best next step is?
  4. Hi, There is a finance meeting tonight (it's been moved by a week to make it easier..) And I need a quote for 100 11" Chromebooks and education licence for them. Does anyone have a supplier they can recommend? I've already got a quote from Misco but need 3 due to the value of them. Thanks
  5. Hyper-V 2008R2. Ok, will try and get it shut down over a weekend and see how it goes from there. Is it just the VM I would need to shut down or the host as well?
  6. Ahh, there aren't any snapshots showing in the console.. The plot thickens
  7. Hi, I can't see checkpoints anywhere within either the Hyper-V or Cluster manager. Where should I see it?
  8. We are using Redstor for the backup but we don't take snap shots of the servers, we just back up the database and files for SIMS. Any idea what I can do about this? How reliable and how long should it take to merge them back together?
  9. Hi, I'm hoping there are some gurus on Hyper-V on here as I'm getting really confused with something. On our SAN I've got a volume of 760Gb for our Sims Data drive. On the host I can see the volume is 760Gb so that's fine. Within that volume I've got 3 files, a Sims-Data.VHD at 520Gb, a Sims-Data_LOTS-OF-NUMBERS.AVHD at 248Gb and then a sims-data-expanding.vhd at 17Gb. Within Hyper-V the hard drive attached as the drive is the Sims_Data_LOTS-OF-NUMBERS.avhd. The virtual machine is showing a Data drive of 496Gb in capactity, but with 370Gb free. What's really cooking my brain, is that the machine paused this morning due to running low on space on the disk. Can anyone shed any light on what's gone wrong here and how I can fix it? Many thanks
  10. Hi, Has anyone else been having internet issues this week? We've been having a rough time of it with DNS apparently being the problem. Have had no update from Link other than a text last week saying there is an issue. Driving me crazy!!
  11. Using the Online Beta. I'm hoping it will stay connected for quite a while then. It does seem to be hammering our upload connection though which I wasn't expecting. - - - Updated - - - I was wondering when the puns would start. That one is Eggcelent though...
  12. Thanks for the info! Every day is a school day. This is also a technical exercise to see how long a YouTube live stream stays up for.
  13. Regards nothing in the incubator, I don't know to be honest. The chap who just dropped them off said that's how they are and that's kind of it. Don't they eat the shell once they are born for their first food? I've got 5 chickens myself and wanted to go on a course to learn how to properly despatch and prepare them but the wife wouldn't allow it...
  14. In case you are interested, we have just had some eggs delivered to school that will hopefully start to hatch either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. If you want to watch the glorious birth then check out the stream here: https://www.youtube.com/user/ParkfieldCommunity/live It's fairly low quality, but does the job. Tech Spec - Stone i5 Laptop, Hue Webcam, OBSProject to send the stream to YouTube and record.
  15. I don't understand what you mean, sorry. Are you talking physical port of software port? If I made the last physical connection between the internal network and the BGFL network the smoothwall, how would I need to set it up?
  16. Yes we do. I'd like to get it working for a trial to begin with especially with our iPads so we can monitor what's going on a bit better.
  17. Internal Network switch -> Smoothwall -> Cisco 3550 (BGFL Router) -> VM Modem -> BGFL network Is what I would like to achieve. We currently have things set up like this for address: Subnet 255.255.252.0 Smoothwall: 10.125.124.51 BGFL Router as Gateway: 10.125.124.50 Does that make sense? The smoothwall is currently only connected to my internal network using it's port 1. Should this still allow it to connect to the internet so I can get updates? Thanks - - - Updated - - - Would the smoothwall not be able to act as a router? - - - Updated - - - This change is what I'm trying to avoid to be honest.
  18. That's brilliant! Need to convince our teachers to get one of these setup.
  19. Hello All, My every faithful side kick has decided to move onto pastures new and so we are in search of a new technician. This is a large inner city primary school that's a bit different to the norm. We are running a Hyper-V enviroment, both Windows and Mac, 200+ iPads, Chromebooks as well as a new engineering centre incorporating both a TV and Radio studio. I'm ideally looking for someone currently working as a level 2 tech who wants more exposure to the network as a whole and the chance to get more hands on with all of the systems on site. Ideally looking to interview and appoint very soon so get your applications in quickly. Any questions, just ask. IT Advert.docx IT Technician.doc SchoolSupportStaffApplicationJuly12.pdf
  20. Credit where credit is due, after years of asking Link2ICT are finally rolling a transparent internet access service for all schools. If you've not seen the eBrefing I've copied it below: Responding to popular demand, Link2ICT has recently made some fundamental network changes to the core of the BGfL in order to introduce a transparent internet access service. This will provide secure, filtered internet access on any device without the configuration of an ‘explicit’ proxy (eduproxy.bgfl.org). Having completed the final stages of testing with a group of pilot schools, Link2ICT will now be making the service available to all schools on a scheduled rollout plan. The service will see a consistent web filtering policy applied to both ‘transparent’ and ‘explicit’ clients and our recommendation will remain to continue to use the explicit proxy service for any fixed, school-owned Windows & Mac devices. However, for non-school owned and/or mobile devices, it will provide a secure, filtered internet service without manual intervention. NOTE: HTTPS Inspection (aka SSL Scanning) functionality available to all schools using the Link2ICT web filtering service requires the use of an explicit proxy. More detail on enabling HTTPS inspection can be found in Knowledge Base Article KB0012920. Transparent internet access will be made available on a phased rollout schedule to all schools subscribing to our Internet Service at no additional cost. The schedule is based on your school’s IP address range, as detailed below: untitled.pdf
  21. Ahh, Certs! Can I use a self signed one for it? I can't even see if the ports are open though which is really odd
  22. Thanks for the feedback. Was that on a Hyper-V system?
  23. I'm trying to get NAP working (Radius) for our Ruckus network and struggling. I've installed and enabled the Role on a Server 2012 VM that's on a Hyper-V cluster, and set everything up on the Ruckus but the two won't talk. After a lot of digging I came across a thread that suggests it can't be run on a cluster. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
  24. We use Little Dreams in Stoke. They can make pretty much anything you want and have made us some fantastic pieces of furniture in the past.
