Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that Memory4Teachers are at BETT on Stand U120.

Alot of bad feedback has been on the site in the past regarding people not getting their memory sticks, but alot has changed as i spoke to the Director this afternoon.

If anyone wants to register for there FREE memory stick make sure you head to there stand to get it, also if anyone who is not attending BETT still want a FREE MemoryStick then post here as i will be asking the Director to watch this thread and contact any members who have had problems in the past and get things sorted out :)

Regards,

James.

I ordered a memory stick about 2 months ago! what a waste of time!

Should have listened to my mum: "you get nothing for nothing in this world!"

I'll give the Director a nudge Mike see what he can do for you. Now i have his contact details it will be quite useful.

Dont get me wrong i know people are raged about it, i was also pretty upset when i had not received it but at the end of the day i am going to give them the chance and they have sorted things out according to what i have heard while i have been here so i am prepared to let the past go away.

James.

I registered so long ago that I can't find any details of my application.

I have just re-registered to see if it works this time...

A few of us ordered a few at the last Bett and before but just thought the project had fallen flat as not heard anything. Did notice the stand but didn't bother to stop as not had anything from them.

Look forward to seeing something happen!

I went yesterday and got mine from the stand. They were apologetic and blamed the unexpected demand. Nice 4Gb drive though. Will offer the resources to some of the teachers at work and then full format! ;)

Should have controlled it in some way and communicated better.

Quite a few of us here at Northampton School for Girls ordered some a LONG LONG time ago and never appeared.

Can you send me some please? :D

Hi - I'm just up the road from you at Parklands.

I went to their stand and received my memory stick along with profuse apologies for the way it had been handled ( I registered last year sometime). I voiced my concern that they were just harvesting email addresses, and was assured this wasn't the case (still not 100% convinced)

Anyway, on the stick are are a lot of useful resources/websites along with about 1GB storage (much less than I was expecting) with 10GB online storage facility.

For a freebie it's OK, but certainly not worth all the hassle of getting one!

I have a contact for the MD if you want it.;)

Most of our teachers registered for the free USB sticks last year, nobody received one.

I saw the stand at BETT and I, too, gave them a wide berth!

I have asked the MD to get in contact with me as I could not get an answer for some questions I had about data protection, copyright and possible future commercial interests.

When I do I will share.

I was tempted to get one so I can be prepared to block the stuff I don't want on our network when teachers get one- but I saw the queue and the amount of time people were spending answering questions and walked on by.

Deeply suspicious about what's going to be bundled on here, although that may just be the cynic in me.

I got a similar story, and lots of apologies as i was quite vocal about how i didn't trust their processes. On the bright side, i gave him my name and my details popped up on screen, and he said that now that delivery has started i would have received one eventually. However, others searched and their details were not logged and they had to re-register but at least you could walk away with a memory stick.

I haven't tried it yet, but i have some concerns. You have to register it online, with a code they provide, and set up a username and password. The instructions imply you can't access the resources until you log in. Sounds like a way for them to track you and scam you. On the plus side, they do say they will synch the data on the stick online so if it gets lost or broken you can get the files back, which means that when teachers come and ask you for help retrieving their files cos they've knackered it, you no longer have to format and then use recovery tools to help them.

With that in mind, there are issues with the whole process so i'd wait to hear from Grumbledook (see below) before signing up, especially with the memory4students program as it could be troubling.

I registered for one of these ages ago. Have emailed them several times since, first couple of emails promised them "soon", from then on in I just got no replies. I just put it down to being an email harvesting scam.

I'm not going to hold my breath whilst I wait.

You have to activate it? Not only are they happily taking my details and spamming me with them, evading my emails and failing to send me a stick, I have to activate it when they do?

Did anything come of this GrumbleDook?

And, to other posters: how many people have registered for a stick but not received it, and have you followed up on it?

Thanks
