NegativeKillDeath Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 You can also use Whats New > My activity Streams to custom build views that will include subscribed threads. 1
Norphy Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Do we have a "Comments and suggestions" thread for feedback on the new site, rather than lumping it into the problems thread?

We went pretty much vanilla for the migration. The extra stuff will be getting plugged in over the upcoming weeks. If we don't have that, then I'm sure we can source one.
Jayellcee Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Plus 1 for ispy, it was also my default view 😁 1

We were going to do one of those, but then @DalekSec created this one and everyone piled in, so it's proving very useful for us. @ZeroHour will be around in a bit (he's having some much deserved sleep atm.) but I shall create one now and set out some ground rules for it. I've some faff to do shortly as I'm going to be in Leeds at the Smoothwall EdTech Connect event this evening, and I'll see any of you that are there and hopefully get some more early feedback.

Dos_Box Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 I think using our existing Comments and Suggestions forum here would be best - https://www.edugeek.net/forums/forum/23-comments-and-suggestions/ Please do not post up any problems in there, only suggestions and ideas for things the site could be doing. Any faults\issues you might find should still be posted in here - https://www.edugeek.net/forums/forum/65-edugeeknet-site-problems/
localzuk Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 The All Activity page would function nicely as a replacement to iSpy if the auto update was a true auto update. At the moment, it appears to simply add a line saying there's new stuff that you have to manually click. Somehow being able to get it to just show the updated lines would vastly improve it.

JonThompson Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Great work on the migration, just wondering if the EduGeek app is going to be available again in the future? I mainly used that on my phone as I found it a lot easier to navigate and as it was set to dark mode, found it a lot easier on the eyes.

Bumhug360 Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Had a rule setup so all edugeek emails went to a folder, this morning due to the wording changed in the email subjects my inbox was bombarded (I had 3) with notifications of replies. I am outraged (slightly inconvenienced) that I have had to change the rule and will be posting on social media (already forgotten about it) on how this has disrupted my work day! I am also old and don't like change so there is that as well (looks good, great work) 1 1

SpreadsheetJockey Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Is there, or will there be, a dark mode? (please - my eyes!) 1
Dos_Box Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 8 minutes ago, SpreadsheetJockey said: Is there, or will there be, a dark mode? (please - my eyes!) Yes, extra themes will be added in once they have been converted. We had to go with defaults (and a slightly modified one for our needs) to begin with and other themes will be available in due course. Please be patient, it's a very big thing to move over to a whole new platform and it does have to be done in steps, with the biggest one happening with the initial migration. Then we have to make sure everything works when we went live. We anticipate a few issues that will need looking at (because there always are) but so far, it's been a relatively smooth process. 1
Koldov Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 (edited) # EDIT: Oooooh... no minimum character limit! OLD EDUGEEK: "Your message is too short, please enter mor......." NEW EDUGEEK: "Hold my coffee".... Edited March 20, 2025 by Koldov 1 1
Koldov Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 (edited) How do I edit a previous post to include a quote, say if I forgot? Previously I would 'reply with quote' copy the text, something like [ quote ]JoeBloggs-post-123 "Hello World" [ /quote ] cancel that and then just paste it into the post I was editing. ZeroHour Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 So: iSpy - I am going to try and get the Whats New page to trigger automatically instead of just having the bar to load new threads but in the interim there is not a full drop in replacement for iSpy Dark Theme/Other colours - Right now we have only Blue available to allow me to roll out theme fixes/changes quickly as inheritance doesnt work in quite the same way as it did before meaning any changes would need to be rolled out a lot of times. I will however try and get a dark theme asap before we roll out all the various colours and fonts we had before. I have the themes you all had as a preference (if saved to account over browser) so I think I should be able to automap you back when the time comes. 4 hours ago, NegativeKillDeath said: You can also use Whats New > My activity Streams to custom build views that will include subscribed threads. If I understand you, hit then you should have an option to insert it. 11 minutes ago, Jawloms said: I can't enter a hash symbol? Okay that bottom right button goes to the bottom editor instead of the edit post. I would click the title of the quote when its in there and cut/paste into your edit post box as a workaround for now. 1
