FN-GM Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 Thanks for the hard work. I am now pleased I have MFA! PS: Did anyone else think this topic was about cars? 2
Koldov Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Just in case you were bored as nobody seems to have posted an issue in a couple of days.... I started a thread: https://www.edugeek.net/forums/topic/222592-veeam-update-and-postgresql/#comment-1996355 Although it has been viewed, nobody has replied to the post (wouldn't be the first time), only I can't seem to see it in any of my 'views'. It didn't appear in 'What's New'... it doesn't appear in 'Subscribed Content', 'Content I Started' or really anywhere else... Other threads/posts in different areas of the forum have, so I'm not sure if it's some setting I've missed or it's a bug...?
Koldov Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 (edited) Also, if you are running any kind of request list of 'nice to have at some point' things... On the 'What's New' page, threads I am subscribed to should be a different colour (a bit like the old site... sorry). EDIT: Changed now I understand the BOLD is unread... 🙄 Something like this... EDIT: I know I can probably do some faffing around with 'activity' and 'streams', but I just liked the way I used to be able to see everything on one page, with all the recent threads and those I'm subscribed to highlighted all in one place. FN-GM Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 I am sorry to say using the site in the browser on my iPhone isn't a great experience. I miss the app! 1

Can you add a bit more? I am working on adding more top items next to the home/back area as shortcuts over the hamburger menu. The biggest issue with Tapatalk is the support and issues its had in the past.
Steve21 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 (edited) 2 hours ago, ZeroHour said: Can you add a bit more? Honestly I don't think it's so much "app vs website" as the issue, but just because the way the website formats things makes everything harder than previous even compared to the old mobile layouts (or more hidden at least) Just a quick example of a few issues I've found today (I fully appreciate some of these are my preferences but to give some examples of what's making it a bit more unfriendly): Missing Posts "Unread" Found out today I've missed lots of posts because the "Unread" posts only default to showing ones that you haven't read "since" last visit. Unlike previously where it'd show Unread posts until they're unread - In this example I visited Edugeek earlier today to view a specific issue and now can't see anything before that time even if it's unread. I found that's the default hidden in the filters for the Unread section: "Fluff" using spacing While I appreciate that a lot of the new features are nice to have they use a lot of real estate up in terms of reading posts and understanding what's actually been posted - The profile pics being oddly aligned take up the first chunk, then with the "replied to topic" etc lines can use another 2 lines of spacing up, adding in additional tags another few lines. Just felt more cleaner and easier to read when it was compact (forgive the quick photoshop but as an example, you'd end up with nearly double posts viewable and no real information lost): Condensed vs Expanded The Condensed View doesn't show enough information as no actual content to read, while the expanded has too much "fluff" that uses up spacing rather than real content again - Would be nice if it was more customisable as to what shows, or at least another middle option - Some text but without all the "extras": Font Sizes New Posts vs Replies show Font different sizes - No idea why but seems to be related as to whether it's a new post or reply, and just seems to make some shouty as such: Timing/Filters Some oddities seem to happen with filters/timings, despite the posts being in date order and being last 7 hours, randomly there's one from 5/6 days ago in the order - Unless there's some "hidden feature" regarding showing the original post that was replied to etc, but now that's 2/3 of the screen being used by one post: Lots more examples if you'd like some, obviously fully appreciate some of these are picky/preferences etc, but just makes it feel clunkier in the way it works. JonThompson Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 I concur with most of what @Steve21 says. I’m hoping that when themes become available some of this will be negated. On the mobile “view” all of the menu collapses behind the burger menu in the top right corner so it’s a bit of a faff to navigate as if you pin the app in iOS and then run it, it launches full screen so you loose the ability to use the back button in the browser. One thing that was handy with the app was the menus being at the top of the screen. I found it so much easier to navigate, especially to view new content that I’d maybe missed. I due find the new Streams to be a bit hit and miss on whether it shows me all unread content, I seem to see more unread threads on the desktop version than I do on the mobile view. Unless that’s just me? 1
ZeroHour Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Thanks for all the feedback. A revised style is in the works, in the interim I have added a couple of icons to the top bar just while I run it through staging.

It isn't easy or smooth to use. Accidently clicking links when scrolling, not really responsive a little laggy. You don't have a great deal of space to submit a reply. It's not it doesn't work, just doesn't seem to work great. To the point I don't use it, I fill my free 10 mins here and there with something else.
Popular Post Brax Posted March 27, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 27, 2025 (edited) Very minor request but it would be great if the "Today's Posts" link in the menu underneath the navbar could make a return . It's much easier to view what everyone has posted on that day in one click. I know there's "unread content" but if it could be put on the homepage where it used to be that would be fab. HereIGoAgain2601 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 On the mobile site whenever I open a thread it goes straight to the bottom and I find myself scrolling back to the top continually to find out what the thread was actually about rather than comments/replies. 1
tom_newton Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Yeah, I missed "today's posts" - I have the unread feed, but it's post by post, not thread by thread 2
Norphy Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 I miss the User CP from VBulletin and the "View last unread post" button. Something similar to both would be good. 3

Are you using the pinned version or just using Safari/Chrome? Which browser/phone out of interest? It *should* go to the first unread post but there may be a bug. 6 hours ago, tom_newton said: Yeah, I missed "today's posts" - I have the unread feed, but it's post by post, not thread by thread Unread should be a thread listing rather than showing 3 line items all of the same thread with each reply. The threads should only appear once in that list. There are some modules (not on What's New section) that are post lists rather than updated thread lists but I am switching those out. Regarding Today's Posts, I am going to look at vb's code and double check exactly what it pulled. 2
ZeroHour Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 That should only have duplicate threads when loading more as below, the 3CX thread occurs twice but I hit the load replies box.
HereIGoAgain2601 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Just using the safari browser on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Whenever I open a new thread on the “what’s new” page that takes me fancy it’s dropping me right into the “latest” post at the bottom of the thread so keep having to scroll all the way back to the top. If it goes across multiple pages I’m on the last page not the first. 2 hours ago, ZeroHour said: Are you using the pinned version or just using Safari/Chrome? Which browser/phone out of interest? ZeroHour Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Thanks I have seen something similar happen with images/embeds in thread where lazyload causes the sizing to be off meaning it goes to the wrong spot. There should a blue line to imply where it thinks the first new post should be, does that line appear?
HereIGoAgain2601 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 It did on this thread where I’ve commented and been before so it shows the blue line and the changes. However if I go to a thread I’ve never been on before ever it just starts from the very bottom of the last page. 1
ZeroHour Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 @HereIGoAgain2601 Thanks for that! working on a change to the behaviour.

mrbios Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Not really a v6 thing, but more of an OCD thing for me.... is there any reason we keep legacy OS forums around rather than condensing them once the OS goes EOL? Server 2008, 2012. Windows 7, 8 and Vista etc. Could they not be condensed into a "Windows Server - EOL" and "Windows Desktop - EOL" pages for all things that are end of life like you've done with 2003/2008? Alternatively, is there any way that we could be given the ability to hide subforums that bare no interest to us individually? (Sponsored ones excluded for sponsor-y reasons) 1
tom_newton Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 I thought the multiple threads issue had been solved but... 1
