There was an issue in Pixel phones where they dropped the ability to "do not validate" this appears to have been fixed as now they off a Trust on First Use option which will allow you to use a self signed cert and agree to to when connecting much like iOS does. We are seeing this on recent Pixels and Samsungs. So we make sure that the user has the latest update on their phone and this usually works.

I had a look at this and the only 2 exceptions that might be relevant are the one where the data might link to a living person and the one where the info is already publicly available. The former probably doesnt count as the vehicles will be registered to a company. The latter covers make and model, colour, full DVLA first registration date, MOT issue/expiry date, but you would need to provide them the VRM and then they can look up the rest.

The VRM is the number plate.

Our drama dept want the students to be able to have access to music as a background to their performance. They want the students to be able to break in to smaller groups and each have access to music, as many as 10 groups in a given drama lesson. This was achieved in the past by students using their own phones but thats not possible now. Are any of your drama departments doing something similar and what method are you using?

I would also like for your children to not be killed by random idiots but I suspect they aren't as high a profile target. If its any consolation they are paying the VAT on the school fees. You can make numerous arguments against the Royal family and you can make numerous arguments against public schools. But a Royal sending their child to a public school is just par for the course.

But it will age gate it which will cause friction in use in classrooms.

The good thing about the app is the user has autonomy about using it when they are at home. IN my experience redirecting calls always required some IT intervention. And when using the app the user can make out going calls that come from their ext.

If a third party is using this for support then they should have a small exe that doesn't install and you have to provide the generated code for the agent to be able to connect. Once the session is killed then they cant reconnect without rerunning the exe and providing the new code. That would be the correct way to do it. Its been a while since I used TeamViewer but it is possible for you to have an install and set it so that any incoming connection requests prompt for permission.

I occasionally have this at home on latest Win11Pro and Vivaldi browser. Maybe 1 or 2 pages in an evening of browsing so not so much that I can be bothered to troubleshoot. If I were that bothered though I'd start looking at DNS as it feels like the browser isn't making that initial connection.

You could argue that, and if I downloaded a word processor then perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that there was a spell check dictionary/thesaurus included. But this isn't that, its a local AI model in a piece of software whose primary function is to view web content.

Does anyone know if the student requires internet connectivity at the point of scanning the QR code? I would presume it has to get the records at some p[point but will it cache the scanned QR until connectivity is there? Our school is in an awful mobile signal dead spot and we don't allow students to connect to the WiFi.
