We use TrilbyTv have done for near on 2 years. 4 iiyama Android screens and a larger screen powered by a Windows PC. We had trouble with a the android app to begin with but the devs were helpful and were giving us nightly builds to test. Once it was set up we havent had to touch it in nearly 2 years other than adding a new screen. Our comms team deal with the content and they have never had to come to us to sort things out. -
Yondr pouches funded by the parents as part of their school uniform/equipment. Help given for those who genuinely can't afford it. We have unlock stations near to the school grounds exits. Another school close by also has the pouches, they have the unlock station in the tutor rooms as they have a final 15 minute tutor at the end of the day. There it increased attendance at the final tutor. Here its been positive as I mentioned in another post. There are a handful of repeat offenders as with any policy but we now have a very clear rule that they are breaking. We don't get parents contesting sanctions with " s/he was just checking for a text message from me..." as is the wont of many parents whose children can do no wrong.
-
The thing about the pouches is it makes it very clear that the phones must be in it. Kids will come up with all sorts of excuses as to why they have their phone out of their bag e.g. taking pictures for photography. It then becomes much harder to be consistent. Pouches reinforce consistency. There had to be buy in from the teaching staff too who had become used to being able to ask a student to do something on their phone (photography, find music tracks etc).

Yes they are locked in a similar way to security tags on clothing. We have them here and I was initially very skeptical but they have proven to be positive. You will get the hand full of repeat offenders as you do with any policy but the real gains are with the "middle behaviour" kids who now have the temptation to check their phone removed.

Always be wary when a company thinks that you might need a stress ball when reminded of their brand.

I've used this before to build up a custom clock for use on a projected screen. https://www.timeanddate.com/clocks/free.html Now we use large LED digital wall mounted clock much like the one linked above. Before you spend money check with your exam department if they want seconds shown. We were advised to not have seconds as the constant ticking down can cause some students anxiety.

Could your Outlook issue be related to this? https://www.theregister.com/2026/01/19/microsoft_intune_deadline/
-
Ah yes. Here we still use VGA for the TV just so that Windows doesn't try and set it as primary because the monitor was off.
-
Why is this an issue at the log on screen? What is it about extend that prevents them from logging in. Once in they would have access to any desktop shortcuts you may have created to help them switch display modes.

Try running this and see if it brings up anything obvious M365 NetworkTest Also check Microsoft 365 URLs and IP address ranges - Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Learn and make sure any of the optimize URLs aren't being restricted by filter/firewall. -
I only have standard cruise control on my car but I rented one in the summer for a 6 hour drive up north while mine was getting serviced/repaired. It has adaptive cruise control that worked really well and I was grateful for but its lane assist was awful. using the left hand lane going past an off or on slip road the number of times it tried to steer me left was shocking. I suspect it was due to patchy line painting.

Another DFE Digital Standards Question
NegativeKillDeath replied to NorthernNoel's topic in General Chat
The IT team in question may be an MSP that suddenly goes into administration or some such issue where by the replacement offering needs an account to get up and running. I get what you mean about tinkering SLT though. -
Another DFE Digital Standards Question
NegativeKillDeath replied to NorthernNoel's topic in General Chat
I've done this before by having a separate admin account with very hard, non-rememberable password. That account details were written down, sealed in an envelope and then laminated shut. It was then stored in a fire proof safe and audited on a regular basis to make sure it wasn't unsealed. -

Its a technical solution to the calendar hanging on the fridge of old. Except the tech solution is actually personal devices with synced calendars.

Our classrooms are typical set up with a desktop PC connected to CTouch interactive screens. Teachers are free to clone, extend as they see fit and have access to the CTouch freeze function. Concerns have been raised that if a teacher is wandering the class helping students they wont see a notification pop up when the displays are in extend or if the CTouch is frozen. Does anyone have a similar set up and found a way to avoid these scenarios? We will be looking to use the sound in the alerts but this has also met some skepticism from SLT as teachers "may not have the volume turned up".

Did get "Sorry, I wasn't able to respond to that. Is there something else I can help with?" and then tried again and it worked.

My AI fail of the day... "today"

I saw something similar on an Ars Technica article about Gemini in Google nest cams. When asked if there had been a delivery that day Gemini replied no (there had been). When asked what happened at a specific time that day (the time of the delivery) Gemini replied that a delivery happened.
