These charges are painful to absorb but a good Business/Finance manager should have been looking for this sort of thing during the tender process for a new MIS. I worked for one who absolutely would have this costed who was replaced by one who I'm not sure knew the difference between coins and notes.

We use TrilbyTV on 5 screens.Its a recent addition for us and it works well. The comms team manage all the content and I see its frequently showing new stuff so they must get on with it. We had a bit of an issue getting the app to work with LG android TVs but there was a good dialogue with Trilby and they gave us up to date builds to work with. No idea on cost though.

My concern over this is because the homework is probably set on one of the many online maths portals that have sprung up. These portals show no nuance in marking the work, its either the correct answer or its not. Ask any maths teacher why we have to do maths now that we all have a calculator in our pockets 24/7 and you'll be told that its about having an understanding of what the answer might be so you can protect yourself against mistakes in using the calculator. They then go and set homework where they only care if its right of wrong and don't look at the working out and thought process the student used.

If its a specific student address thats constantly being sent to accidentally you could try moderated recipients but that will require additional workload for someone to approve the messages. If its more general than moderated recipients is probably too much. The technical fixes for this are either easy to ignore or too onerous.

I've had a problem staff member be more understanding when it was explained to them that the authenticator app was only for generating the code and that it wouldn't be ping for work emails etc. A deaf teacher who historically never had a phone we provided a Yubikey. And for a blind teacher we registered their home laptop in Entra and set it as trusted device to not require MFA.

Very much a pastoral/behaviour management issue. I have issues in locking every little thing down as it doesn't teach students boundaries. It creates the idea in the students heads that if they weren't allowed to do something then it would be locked down. (I have had students say this to me about the web filter)

Admittedly we had 3 in the department but we had a ticketing system for incoming jobs (self hosted Manage Engine Service Desk). For internal we had a M365 group, Teams for coms when one of us worked from home. Sharepoint for our documentation, Planner for internal works, Lists for change logs, Onenote for brainstorming. It worked well for us and even if I was a lone staff member I'd set up something similar so that the IT stuff was separate from my account.

I opted to self build my last PC and frankly I don't trust my own build quality. Sure slotting things in is easy enough but I'm not patient enough for the cable management. The reverse side of my mobo is a mess.

My concern is that if we know that a corporate email address is owned by the corp and may be accessed by parties other than the parent should we be trying to mitigate any risk. I would ask the parent if they had a personal account we could use instead.

GDPR compliance would depend on the content of the document. I wouldn't want to share it to another school's M365 email address, it would need to be to a personal email. Its a real bugbear of mine when people use their work emails for personal use. If you share the document to a non M365 account then the person will get an email each time the sharing link is clicked to confirm its the email owner trying to access it.

If you are a Hybrid environment then Microsoft only support if theres an on prem Exchange to manage the AD entries. You can do it through other tools like ADSIEdit but its not supported. If the on prem isn't hosting any mailboxes then its very light weight and can be run on a low powered VM. Microsoft would also licence it for free if it was just to support hybrid.
