It would appear that Konica have got Toner Supply issues following a fire at their factory in Japan: Konica Minolta explosion impacts toner supply | Printweek

We've got the automatic ordering which normally keeps things topped for us, but noticed that we're not getting certain toners in now, primarily Black.

Our resources technician is now not able to do any printing as her beast of a machine has used up the last of its Black toner (TN-514K if anybody has got any). She's in the middle of doing the Pre-App exam papers and has now resorted to using other lesser machines around the site.

Not Brexit, not the Pandemic, nor the HGV shortage, can't be fuel crisis either but down to one fire at one factory! I can see the queues of 'panic printers' around our site now!

We have a same issue. Put an order in after noticing we weren't getting our restocks.

Just chased up that order today, their support people were unwilling to answer clearly until eventually a manager mentioned the above problem.

More info direct from Konica: https://www.konicaminolta.com/global/newsroom/2021/0927-01-01.html

The timescales from that article are shipments from the factory for office products starts 28th October.

Fun times ahead...

17 minutes to order a toner and then got told no. Complained to our account manager as we are mid-tender on renegotiating the fleet - didn’t make a difference!

They are saying MFD toners should be unaffected and it’s mainly the production print equipment

We have two Pro1100 and a C3700.

We were told by Konica that they are opening up a portal for users to submit jobs and have them printed by Konica - when we do the volume we do it’s not feasible 🤣🤣

I think I may have some no longer needed in the 514 range. Let me check.

We've been told by our account manager, things should start to improve towards the end of the month. He said something about raising a toner order via the portal and they will cross reference your toner level on the devices and if below 5% will prioritize these. Though just before I left work the repro technician said an email was sent and the process had changed.

Quick update for you all,

Just had delivered from KM, 6 x Black toners.

Latest update from KM is this:

Hi all,

Thanks for the update.

The situation is definitely getting better as the factory is back up and running, we still we be experiencing delays due to the backlog that has built up in that time. Unfortunately I don’t think we can provide certain schools priority at the moment our remote team is assessing levels of toner available for devices and prioritising that way.

Made another forum post about this before I noticed this thread. Been waiting two weeks for toner, thought it was the usual suspects mentioned above. Now I know.

Still wonder why the remote specialist hasn't organised a date to setup our copiers auto restock. But if they don't have any stock.....

if anyone is desperate for toner email [email protected] and they will sort you out.

I didn't get any joy emailing that address. They didn't get back to me for over a week. I'm guessing that was the toner issues causing them not to reply.

Just for reference, if anyone needs to email Koncia. Here are all the email add's

If you need to book a service call, please contact the service desk or by logging into Ebiz > https://ecommerce.konicaminolta.co.uk

Should your enquiry involve any other issue, these should be directed to the appropriate department below.

Cheers,

Matt

Anyone else having issues?

It's getting frustrating. Does anyone know if there is an SLA? We can't find one anywhere on our contract.

We've had major issues with supplies for the 3350i - we've got four 3350's out of action now since March. Spoken to the service manager and he openly said he didn't know when he can get supplies to us.

Konica are leaving with no other option to look elsewhere for out fleet of MFD's and managed printers.... a shame as their engineers and overall support is really good.

We are trying to get our photocopiers updated as our contract ended, we are told 12+ months waiting for a new copier..... we are looking at alternatives

Seriously? wow..... may I ask what model you're hoping to replace? We have a mixed fleet of 550's, 257's, 659's and 3300/3350s some of ours need replacing in the next 12 months :(
