cookie_monster Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) Just a quick note to all of the admins and speakers that participated in the conference. This is the first one that I have attended but I was very impressed with the amount of effort that has gone into the event and how professional the delivery was. It was nice to put a few faces to names, see you all at the next one hopefully. Cheers Grant. Edited May 29, 2008 by cookie_monster
john Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I'll add my thanks in here as well as the other thread (read the other thread for my long waffly thanks!) Excellent Day and bunch of people. Thanks John
stephenwelch Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yes. An excellent day. Well organised. Please keep up the good work.
bjohnny42 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Well I can't agree more with the other posts. Cheers Fella's. Thanks for putting on a good show.
conehead Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 A hearty thanks from me on behalf the six techs from Bolton,to everyone involved in putting on this event. We all thought it a worthwhile experience, and took away some thing useful from the day. In Hayley's case a Pen Drive and Waheed, Vista Ultimate. But in all seriousness, it was an eye opener for a few of us who didn't know much about Edugeek in regard to how useful a resource, and support community it is for school based Techies specifically. I'm sure there are more memberships imminent. It was nice to meet people from around the country with comparative experiences, and all the presentations were useful. We will be trying some of the Ruckus kit in some of our more problematic buildings to see it it delivers as promised, but the theory sounded plausable. The venue and grub were top rate too. Thumbs up fellas.
tom_newton Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Great fun - hope those who stayed on last night haven't suffered too much as collateral damage in one of Gav's drunken evenings Roll on october-conf @ brizzle!
lasercat Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks guys. My first edugeek conf and certainly won't be my last.
OverWorked Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) I second all of the above. I had a great time. Got useful info on wireless (the bane of my life), and policies (I really need to get some). The best part was meeting people from here in the flesh. John, Lasercat, Bossman and Webman plus many others to numerous to mention. Bossman, you really should do a short talk next time on customer service (or: keeping the b******s on your side). Thanks to Smoothwall for the advice and paying for my dinner. Great goody bag and raffle. Just great. Edited May 30, 2008 by OverWorked spelling
SimpleSi Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Great Conference Nice to meet and speak to people - even better that pity was taken on me and I didn't win a copy of Vista :lol regards Simon
webman Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yes, thanks everyone for putting together an excellent conference - really good day was had by me & Bossman Still can't believe I won Microsoft T-Shirt and software in the raffle! Anyone for a swap? For a Creative MP3 player?
Sylv3r Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yes, thanks everyone for putting together an excellent conference - really good day was had by me & Bossman Still can't believe I won Microsoft T-Shirt and software in the raffle! Anyone for a swap? For a Creative MP3 player? I'll swap for the patent for Bossmans wind up laptop.
OverWorked Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Still can't believe I won Microsoft T-Shirt and software in the raffle! Anyone for a swap? For a Creative MP3 player? I won MS Office Ultimate 2007. It goes for about £200 on Ebay. It's still sitting on my desk with seals intact. Not wishing to appear ungrateful, but that's a lot for an office suite I wouldn't use. I use OOo and am happy with it. I'm still thinking about what to do with it. I fancied the printer myself - was it mono or colour laser?
OverWorked Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I'll swap for the patent for Bossmans wind up laptop. It seemed like a good idea when I heard Bossman suggest it, but I can just imagine classes full of kids furiously winding their laptops for 10 minutes at the start of each lesson.
Singist Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Many thanx to the Edugeek team for yesterdays conference (and the pen drive I won in the raffle). It was my first and definately not my last but I'm sure they will only get bigger and better as Edugeek gets older. Happy Birthday! in advance to Edugeek. Keep up the good work!!

Joedetic Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yeah, I can only echo the thoughts of others. Really appreciate the effort that Chris and everyone put into EduGeek and the conference and I'm looking forward to trying to convince manglement into letting me out to play for the next one. Thanks also go to Smoothwall and Gav for picking up the tab on countless occassions and ensuring that I lost any semblence of sobriety. Although...what was with that chippy, took absolutely bloody forever to produce chicken and chips...amatures!
