partial lockdown from Thursday

return of fans to sporting events on hold

rules of 6 applies to all adult indoor sports

bars restaurants etc can to table service ONLY - and actually CLOSE by 10 p.m. - i.e. not just call last orders

 

importantly - people who CAN work from home SHOULD work from home

the words in this may be critical - not sure about how compulsory this is which may affect a lot on here

 

 

measure will probably apply for 6 months

No doubt this will continue to not apply to schools, 'cause we all know COVID is terrified of being accused of any impropriety with kids, so it won't come into the building.

We got face shields into school today. Supposed to be worn in all common areas... except not in front of the kids.....

 

Not sure exactly what the point was as there are NO common areas that aren't in front of the kids.

You definitely shouldn't be visiting classrooms whilst children are in there anyway!

There's no definitely about that - it depends on your school's risk assessment.

When the bubble has been popped.

 

There's definitely a definitely about it. It's bad enough teachers are moving between bubbles, if you're then asking technicians and support staff to wander between them too, then you haven't got bubbles.

Are you logging every classroom you've visited as you go? If a student tests positive, and you've moved between the bubbles, you're a conduit to passing the virus through the bubbles and you'll need to know where you've been and when.

I completely agree with you but here support staff are being expected to go wherever they need to do work. I'm not even mentioned separately in the risk assessment. There is not a room in this building I haven't had to go into over the last week. I'm not happy about it but can't afford to not have a job at the moment.

Yep that's exactly what's happening here, too, if a kid is confirmed to have COVID.

Risk assessments are not the be all and end all though, and if the risk assessment is poor simply having one will not stop an organisation ending up in court for negligence.

Especially if you aren't even considered on said risk assessment.

 

Perhaps your school is different but my school and everyone in the area I live in is isolating the teachers who've been in an infected bubble, alongside any pupil.

Yeah yesterday we got some face shields in. We aren't allowed to wear them in front of the children though.........

Then I'd simply refuse to enter and ask them to speak to my union if they have any issues, personally.
