Well - as expected we (i.e. people who live near here) are going back into partial lockdown from Tuesday

 

and - I would think - the people moaning most about the pubs closing at 10 and not being allowed to visit their gran - are going to be the numpties I saw in The Asda the other day who didn't wear a mask

 

and I wonder how many calls the Police will get saying that $personthecallerdoesn'tlike has too many people in their house

I think you are trying to tar people with the same brush there. I go out for a few pints on a Saturday night usually till around midnight, and I always obey the rules and wear my mask in supermarkets/shops etc. Closing the pubs early however may have the undesired effect of people either starting drinking earlier than usual or by drinking way faster than normal because of the early chuck out.

I was not suggesting that people who go to the pub are the problem

 

but that the people who do not wear masks in shops - without good reason, so not including people with proper reasons such as health etc. - and also go to the pub and do not respect the rules - are probably the ones that will be complaining the most

 

i.e. a lot of them are the ones that think the virus is a hoax, or don't care because they think they are OK and don't care about anyone else

 

I do agree that people will simply start drinking earlier - and will probably then go home in large groups to carry on at home

 

but that is another problem

We've just made plans to do all our online screening tests over the next three weeks - including a load that were part-completed in March. No way we can trust the parents to supervise them properly at home to make them "fair", so it'll all go out of the window again if there's a lockdown.

I emailed them at the start of this week to to say is there anything we can do from an IT perspective to be proactive/is there anything we can do now to prep in the event of a second lockdown given there were cases in schools close by us.

 

I got a sarcastic snotty reply back saying SLT are dealing with it. Really? Because as of Friday closing, no updates or requests being sent my way to update me - I'm only the one IT person after all.

 

I assume then they already prepped with laptops standing by, all charged, all prepped ready to be collected by key staff then. Oh the IT person (me) still doesn't have a work laptop they were informed.

 

Then they wonder why IT people are the way they are sometimes.

A second lockdown was always going to come. Back earlier this year we struggled to take it serious until we all started to lose staff from our schools/businesses. We ignored warnings from the WHO and even our leaders didn't care.

 

Now we are reactive - something I hate in my own job. If we all did a far better job in avoiding people, washing our hands and generally keeping ourselves happy.. we probably wouldn't be in this mess.

 

Far too many still call it a hoax or downplay it or don't even care about masks.... I don't agree with screaming in panic but I do think we all should have done a better job in our own health and taking precautions. In the last 6 months I've barely been ill, hay fever has barely scratched me and even when the weather changes and I usually get hit by colds or flus.. I've avoided nearly all of it. The last time I was ill was C19 months ago (really is bad!!). The mask is helping me with hay fever, I am washing my hands at every stage and always got access to hand gel. No matter what I touch - I use it!

 

Lockdown 2.0 is coming and I am dreading it. Being stuck in doors all day every day is not something I'm built for but I completely understand why.

We had that last week. Currently SLT are looking at students who havent logged into Show My Homework and getting them to do it in school.

 

Other departments have asked us for staff laptops so the support staff can work from home.

 

The number of schools (primary & secondary) with cases in my home town is rising but the number of cases in Kent has dropped by 31%!

I think today's press briefing with the CMO and CSO was designed to get people to try and behave now to delay a lockdown for as long as possible.

I think they're hoping that if they do have to lockdown fully, it will be for two weeks and do it by extending half-term by a week.

I think massive failure was just trust on people's common senses - problem with that it is just not that common. I work part time in a pub - I can tell you, people don't need much to start shaking hands and come closer to each other, than they should. I hate seeing people are just being blamed for raise in cases - when we were encourage to go to eat out, go to pubs, go to offices etc.

 

Schools will start to play it part as well - today Patrick Vallance said that it spreads indoors, crowded area where there is poor ventilation - perfect description of a classrooms. We were told that teenagers can spread Covid as well as adults. Our principal is already planning for a lockdown or partial lockdown, I was asked to buy multiple webcams and we are trialing streaming lessons, in case half ot the class is not onsite.
