200MBps on a 1Gbps bearer, £8400pa, two years into a three year contract (i.e. this wouldn't necessarily be a good price now, though it was okay at the time)

£18500 2x 500/500Mbps on 1Gbps bearers supplies four schools, 2 more years to go on the 5 year contract then I can look at a better deal. PTP, filtering and firewalling separate costs.

1 school £0 - LEA funded for 100mb on 100mb circuit on emPSN

1 school currently £9,200 for 200mb on 1gb circuit, however moving them back to emPSN which will then be £1351.03 per annum

This is line only costs, school pay for filtering which is about £4k per year for own chosen solution.

100/100 connection - roughly £7k

We are quite rural so it took a carrier wanting to work more in the area to get that price - most others were still quoting £10k+

Hi @kennysarmy

Prices are very varied on what speeds you want and where you geographically are.

Some prices also include firewall and filtering whereas others dont.

If youd like a competitive quote with award winning filtering and security do let me know.

Prices for the connectivity element are constantly coming down and will continue to do so for the next 18 months or so on average for anything on a 1gbit bearer. I also see 10gbit beaters being available nationwide and affordable prices soon too.

Large secondary 200/200 over 1gb £5125 with just a few months into a 3 year contract. This doesn’t include the cost of the filtering.

Going 200MB on a 1GB bearer doesnt seem to save you *that* much money which is interesting.

We looked at 500MB on 1GB here originally, and the difference in price was very minimal to just going the full 1GB. I mean a few hundred quid a year difference.

1Gb on a 1Gb bearer for ~£6k. Contract started at the beginning of this financial year. It is cheaper for us than our previous 500Mb connection.

If you are near a CityFibre location you are onto a winner!

Just to clarify, if you are IN one you are onto a winner.

Near doesn't cut it - we are literally a couple of hundred yards from where CityFibre terminates here. No go for us :(

Very true, we have one school that has a backbone running along the bottom of their field. But there isn't a node anywhere near sky cant access it.

For a 500/1000 you are looking at £3k pa, maybe cheaper now as that was a year ago.

We're now starting to see similar or even lower wholesale costs from other carriers to city fibre.

Also BT is really starting to motor on its fttp roll out. Expect a lot more schools to have this over the next couple of years.
