Can't run the ookla speed test as the page is not working on multiple machines for us but has worked fine previously. Multiple users getting a screen similar to this when trying to access pages (a refresh sorts this a lot of times). Overall internet feels extremely sluggish today:

we certainly shouldn't be as we get customers to use that to help test issues.

It may just be on your individual setup and a category is blocked for some reason.

The support guys can help you get this unblocked of course or you can allow it.

Thanks

had the same thing MJ then it just jumped back to life abotu five minutes ago :)

Yeah - apparently it was an issue with filter 14 / 16. They have moved me to a different filter. Backup again now. I suspect they have moved everyone away from the filter.

We're looking into it. Might be a suspected DDoS against a specific filter from internal to external rather than the other way around. Other cluster filters were not impacted.

Dave

I don't usually have much praise towards Schools Broadband. But in this case, this was dealt with quickly and effectively! So thanks for that Dave!

Can people who use NS please try some of these sites for me, please?

http://www.gov.uk

http://www.hsbc.co.uk

http://www.barclays.co.uk

personal.natwest.com

We can't access any of these sites due to a Certificate error - I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same or if it was just us.

Cheers

I was having the same issue with education.gov.uk yesterday - adding it to the default allow list sorted it though... (not ideal - but quick fix)

Adding to the Default shouldn't be an answer tbh...

Yes, to get around it atm we have added some of them to the default rule as it's stopping our finance dept from accessing accounts, however, as they were working last week (and AFAIK we haven't changed any settings) I am unsure as to what the cause is.

Yeah - I think there has been an update which is causing decyption to be blocked for some sites - if you load the logger up you should see the decrypt://website being blocked, adding these manually to the unblock lists fix it but I have reported it to 3rd line so hopefully an automatic fix will be on the way soon......

Why?

I don't expect gov.uk to be hosting porn anytime soon, pick your battles and all that

It's not just .gov.uk sites that were having issues yesterday, and I agree that we shouldn't need to add sites like this to default to make them work :(

We had a call late yesterday afternoon to say the issue was resolved. Apparently the NOC team made a change and it sorted the issue (I was unable to find out what that change was). We have removed the temporary entries we made in the default list to get round the issue yesterday and these sites now appear to be working as expected.
