XiJ Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Seriously it's been very windy in south yorks (Sheffield / Rotherham) since Monday and it's defo picked up again with the wind. Had to do a hospital run with my little girl last night and some huge puddles across the road. But drier now.

We have a canopy structure that was put in a few years ago, and the way it's going today may be it's last day; the metal supports are sound pretty ominous. The walk to the shop at lunch was one of the more interesting in recent times...

Would be interesting to see the difference in weather between locations. Close(ish) to Dover. Still windy here but just went to lunch wearing only a T-shirt so otherwise it's quite a nice day. 1

No idea how to get that sorted as we don't actually use it or have service on it, it's a ceased line. Not going to be fun calling them... I would imagine it will be like this: BT: "What's your phone number?" Me: "Don't have one" BT: "What's your BT account code?" Me: "Don't have one, not a customer" BT: "So you want to have a new line fitted?" 2
AMLinington Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 LeHusband has a stubborn insistence on sleeping with the bedroom window open a crack - even in sub-zero temperatures. The wind was howling last night and the curtain was slapping him in the face. Serves him right, stubborn A$$. At ridiculous-o'clock this morning, he finally got up and shut the window. So far we've not lost any fence panels, but we nearly lost two tarps - LeHusband left them on the grass (as an aside, they are now COATED in baby slugs - ack) and then refused to go retrieve them. I made him weigh them down last night. They will probably be missing when I get home. I kinda hope they are. I don't like the vast quantity of slugs on them. We also might lose a couple of the Rabbits - two of them keep escaping into the garden during the night. If any fences fall down, they'll be long gone. We can't work out how they're doing it, either. The hutches are secured. We think they've learned that 'thumping' the ground floor of the hutch rattles the bolt. We think they just do it repeatedly until the bolt works itself loose. Rockster is smarter than he looks! It's pretty blowy here but nothing particularly extreme. So far I'm deeply disappointed that 'Storm Doris' has yielded neither Thunder NOR Lightning - Real-Time Lightning Map :: LightningMaps.org

If it's fallen down, just get them to remove it. That's what they did for us. It was really easy. I just rang them up and said their catenary wire was damaged and they arranged a visit. No problem. 1
AJWhite1970 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Just walked through the centre of town and I see the outside seating at the cafe is about 20 foot to the right of no doubt where it was earlier this morning. Other than that, I spotted one wheely bin tipped over and a couple of ducks making little headway trying to swim into the wind on the stream. Some idiot opened a window in the Chapel though which resulted in all the paper on my desk rapidly forming a pile to my left. Chores for him later....

Rear doors "wouldn't open" at lunch time... the area is a bit of a wind trap as it is. Sounds like you need a little more fibre in your diet! On a more serious note, a tree has blown down about half a mile down the road from here, and one of the main roads into Liverpool has been closed as the roof was blown off a building.
