It's a good bridge that. If a little chilly when you're up there. Great view of the planes landing at city airport :)

 

Ahhh yes, that bridge. Once had an outdoor party up there in the middle of the night.... :laugh:

Maybe I'm biased (and selfish!) but I love the fact that it's in ExCeL, because it's less than a 10 minute drive from home or a 17 minute journey on the bus! :p

 

In fairness though, I think ExCeL has much better transport links than the former location of Olympia and the District line train that TfL don't even bother to run anymore that is High Street Kensington - Earls Court - Kensington Olympia. I remember my last year at InfoSec, I ended up walking the bus route from Earls Court to Olympia and still the bus never caught up with me when I got there!

I miss breakfast at Frank's, or nipping up there for a 'meeting'.

 

I miss the Pizza Express for the TeachEat on the Friday evening (#TMSocial tickets are now available for those who are going to TMBett ... look for the #tmsocial hashtag on twitter for more details)

 

I don't miss the sparks who think it is ok to drop power to your stand whenever they like with no notice, I don't miss the constant worry of whether it will be our stand that has the complete internet failure, I don't miss that the place would only start getting warm late on Friday ...

 

And I don't miss the stupid train journey (driving in on Tuesday for the week, probably leave in in Royal Victoria multi-storey), I don't miss the standing in the cold and wet waiting to meet people to give them badges to get in through the exhibitor gate, and I don't miss battling through clouds of cigarette smoke trying to get in through the exhibitor gates from those who have nipped out for a breath of alternative air!

I'll be there Wednesday pm and Thursday am. Long list of companies to go and moan at! Will pop by to annoy Joanne at some point!

I do miss the massive Tesco 5 mins walk from Olympia though but ExCeL does have a lot more space (and is easier to get lost in)

 

The Tesco was a huge convenience, especially for the personal wallet as a good old Tesco Ploughmans was around £1.50 - £2, whereas inside Olympia it was more like £5+

 

If you are coming by car, the Tesco in Gallions Reach is a 5 min drive away, but I agree, not anywhere near as convenient. Pre-bought or packed lunch is the way to save cash on food at ExCeL (Or have lunchtime pizza at the EduGeek stand and a smoothy from Smoothwall to wash it down!)

Got the green light to come on Friday! Although I'm more of a lurker than a poster, I'll definitely have to drop in, would be great to meet people!

Going hopefully on Wednesday this year. Taking a risk and driving it this time; always forced to use Travel Card at non peak times which means I don't get there until a bit later and have leave earlier than I would like because of not being able to use non-peak trains home. Plus the tube is a PITA from Paddington.

Have not been as active on the forums (My Bad) but will be popping down to BETT on wednesday and Thursday. Picked up some drinks an nibbles as per usual for the stand :D

Dammit! I was hoping to blend in with the carpet...

 

Its Green carpet this year.... :p

 

[note I don't know what colour as I've not popped in to spy yet but this will wind @Little-Miss up as she's having her hair done specially BETT Carpet purple from a sample]

I'm allowed to go to BETT this year! See you all on Thursday. I'll wear my edugeek socks just so you know I definitely am who I say I am! ;)
