LeMarchand Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 So you can get apple tv and this for a few months for free. Just finishing apple tv and not currys are giving it away, don't know how they make money. Last time I tried a free Apple offer they told me I was taking the mickey and had done it too many times (a bit more politely). Might try again soon.

LeMarchand Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Really? I use a different email everytime... I mean another member of my household sign up each time. I'm too lazy to do that, plus I have a few purchased movies (got all 6 extended Middle Earth movies in 4k for £20) that I'd need to switch to my main account to access. Might have to at some stage if they are still being blockers. Disney seem happy with me using Clubcard points at least.
6Foot2 Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) Boat Story (BBC iPlayer, all 6 episodes available now) Edit: Hopefully, it's no spoiler to say that episode 6 has a post-credit scene. Edited November 19, 2023 by 6Foot2 1
pooley Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Just started the new Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, 2 episodes in and enjoying.
MartinT Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Boat Story (BBC iPlayer, all 6 episodes available now) I don't think it's a spoiler to say that E1 is thoroughly barking in an entertaining way. 1
6Foot2 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Scrublands (BBC iPlayer, all 4 episodes available now) 1

LeMarchand Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 A Storm for Christmas (Netflix) Trailer NSFW - F-Bomb on audio and subtitles Christmas is coming, but a bunch of disparate characters find their plans are thwarted when a storm hits. 6 episodes of 30-40 minutes. Set mainly in a Norwegian airport, this is kind of like "Love Actually" with less romance: A bit of comedy, a bit of pathos, and yes, a bit of romance too. It took me while to warm to it but by the end I was thoroughly enjoying the show. Well worth a look if the trailer tickles your fancy, but don't plan on just watching episode 5 one night - you'll need to find out how it's going to end. Side note: Really surprised by how much English is used in Norway. At times it was a bit like watching an Indian movie in terms of language. 1
mikeprice Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Finally got round to finishing Boat Story full marks to the writers and director for the number of unknowns pretty much right up to the end including one interesting possiblity that they almost literally just said "nah - we just said that to confuse you" - almost breaking the 4th wall!!! Most mysteries sort fo collapse into a normal cop type show by the last episode with everyone following an obvious route to the end not this one Can't see a second series though!
southhamster Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Finally got round to watching this, I was a bit unsure as I thought the book was truly brilliant and sadly many TV series leach the the magic from the pages. Overall, I thought it was pretty well done. Some good acting (except for Mark Ruffalo's weird accent), maybe a little too cartoony and "busy" but they had to cram a lot of backstory into 4 episodes. If you enjoy this, you might find the series of Das Boot (sky/nowtv) even better. Much darker and more claustrophobic, better acting and script and plenty of onshore stories too. With subtitles it felt a bit more real to me. Certainly put me off going in a submarine! Binge watched All the light we cannot see on Netflix in less than 24 hours https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15320362/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_7_nm_1_q_all%2520
Simcfc73 Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Reacher season 2. Lovely terminator quote which made me smile.
Rob_D Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Reacher season 2. Lovely terminator quote which made me smile. Isn't Robert Patrick in it?
3s-gtech Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 My parents looooove Reacher. Must borrow a Prime subscription for a week. Not much else to justify it!
Simcfc73 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Isn't Robert Patrick in it? Yep, don't want to spoil it though.
LeMarchand Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 The Crossing Needed something to "background watch" while present wrapping and this fit the bill. Had it around for a while and only had the last 3 episodes to go. A bunch of people time travel from a future where humans are being wiped out by a newer model. One of those shows that was "OK", but it's cancellation wasn't exactly upsetting. At least it feels like the first book in a series ending rather than ending on a massive cliffhanger.
JATSO Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 We watched Boat Story over Xmas, as it was filmed it Redcar, seeing areas you know well was a bonus. I don't think it needed all the violence and gory bits though. We are currently halfway through Mr Bates vs The Post Office on iPlayer.
Rob_D Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 We are currently halfway through Mr Bates vs The Post Office on iPlayer. I thought that was on ITV?
JATSO Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I thought that was on ITV? Maybe I should have just put catchup tv, all means the same to me. 1
6Foot2 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Maybe I should have just put catchup tv, all means the same to me. It was mentioned on BBC Breakfast this morning (I think) In the segment, I felt that, it wasn't absolutely clear that it was on ITV. 🤷
Norphy Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I'm patiently waiting for Invincible to start on Prime again. The whole adverts going to Prime thing is annoying though.
