DCUK6 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Normally 18-19c in the server room and 47c CPU's Up to 22c in the room now but 47c CPUs. How are you coping. Dread to think of the temperature in my old schools server room. 3 servers in a cuboard and a tiny fan. Tried for years to get something else in there.
rich_tech Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Our server room just had the AC replaced and upgraded after it broke with a more powerful unit that blasts the room with 18 degrees air, I had to image some ipads this morning and it was too cold to stay that long in now. It could house penguins or a polar bear at a push. Our classrooms are different altogether and can be uncomfortable with the heat even with windows open, especially after the kids run around for lunch now.
JRowley Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Aircon in the server room is doing it's job, I'm melting on the other hand 2
Davit2005 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server Room at 21, the one time you can put up with the noise to get away from the heat
thebatman Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server room 19-20oC our Office, Just about coping with the fire exit open and two big fans moving the hot air around the room! Why do computers/servers get better looked after than us 'Humans'?
Domo Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 aircon in the server room is doing it's job well, pretty much the same temp as always. May have just been stood in there to cool down haha
unixman_again Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Why do computers/servers get better looked after than us 'Humans'?It's down to cost. A server is worth a few thousand pounds and a human £3-4. Let's face it, we're cheap to replace 3
DCUK6 Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Server room 19-20oC our Office, Just about coping with the fire exit open and two big fans moving the hot air around the room! Why do computers/servers get better looked after than us 'Humans'? I know, they get better treatment than us Cooled room, peace and quiet, dusted and cleaned. Our bin hasnt been replaced for a week now and the floor hasnt seen a hoover for even longer. Weve got a1 sheets of paper ive stuck up for blinds. Im mooving.
Grey-gear Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I'm one of the luckily ones with AC in the server room but the rest of the school is hot, so hot two hobbits came around and threw a ring into the school
6Foot2 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Just been over to the server room. Air conditioning working well: All good.
mrbios Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Both server rooms are a lovely 19-20oC at the moment. Office.....isn't :| Got a fan on me 24/7 but all it's doing is blowing hot air over me. We've got two air con units in one buildings server room, one is meant purely as redundancy if the other breaks...but to be honest I'm tempted to get it moved especially as there's no servers in that room anymore, just switching
Irazmus Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server room is up to 27C, the office is at 31C, and the techs are off the charts
bwestlake Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Outside : 29'C Main Server Room : 20.8'C Comms Room : 27.3'C Backup : 21.7'C Our Office : 19'C
newpersn Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server room: Blowing 18. Servers sitting at 19/20 Office: Air con at 18 IT Rooms: Aircon at 20. (kids moan at it being lower) Other rooms round the school: Too hot. No air movement in the main school.
halbaradkenafin Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Aircon in the server room working fine at it's usual temperature despite windows on the outside wall (big ones with no blinds of anything on them). Luckily our office is attached to the server room so we've got the door wedged open so it can share it's glorious cool air with us (it's got more than enough that it can share a bit), makes today more bearable.
Dkeen94 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I am relishing the fact that the server room is the coolest room in the school! Its funny all of my jobs require me to be in the server room today....
Oaktech Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Room 19, server vent exit 23-30 depending on server. Machines are cool to the touch except one Lacie eSata drive which is the heat of the sun and likely to grenade at any moment.
DalekSec Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server room 18'c! outside around 29'c bit cooler in the office lots of windows helps!
Duranis Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Server room is same as always, small room, large aircon, the temp never changes much in here. Today is one of the few days I'm happy to call this tiny box/fridge my office Have had 1 projector that was over heating that I have completely removed the filters from for the moment to try and get some more airflow through it. The classroom is like an oven though, even with all the doors and windows open. The small cab in the out building is a little hotter than normal but its in the cooler part of the building with good airflow around it so fingers crossed it will be ok.
Pyroman Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Office/Server room (yes i'm sat next to them!) 32 degrees at the moment. Got a fan blowing on the servers, one on me and one on the switching gear.
DCUK6 Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) I am relishing the fact that the server room is the coolest room in the school! Its funny all of my jobs require me to be in the server room today.... One of the downsides of remote desktop. Removed the need for me to gin there on hot days. Wow pyroman. Thats a tad warm, our room only got that hot when on of the students got on the roof and blocked the aircon vent which meant the hose came of the aircon unit so it just took air in, split it into hot and cold and dumped both back into the room again. Up to 23c in the room and 48 on the CPU. Edited July 1, 2015 by DCUK6
simonw Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I'm the same as you Pyroman. Got 1 server next to me and 2 behind. Have portable aircon and a big fan on a stand. These don't seem to be doing the job tho'. Blackout blinds are down, I have large windows in a south facing office. I'm roasting!
stevenlong1985 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 its 31c both in my office and server room. The Air con in the server room is blowing air but not cold enough. :'(
MattDLEA Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Nice thunderstorm here now. Should I power down the server
