Yes, this is the most worrying aspect, and my biggest barrier to greater adoption of Stadia. I would prefer that they went down the rental option, that way I can test a game on Stadia, and buy it on another platform if it's a game I think I'll want to play 5-10 years down the line. I think, though I'm not sure, this is how Amazon's Luna is likely to work.

i really dont get why they diddnt launch stadia as a gamepass like service then it would of had a much better chance at people diving in. having to pay £55 say to buy a game to test a service is not a great look when the service is so dependant on internet speed stability etc

For those that missed the Stadia Premier offer, preorder Cyberpunk 2077 and get Stadia Premier for free

Edit - Nevermind US residents only, despite what twitter says 🙁

Looks like it is available for UK customers as well...

Preorder Cyberpunk - Get Stadia Premiere Edition

Also, I don't think you necessarily need to pre-order, just order it between 15 October and 17 December, though you won't possible won't get the Premiere edition until January. Certainly tempted just to get two controllers for the Stadia!

Also, they've added Everspace and Into the Breach for Pro users, which I've been wanting to try out for awhile.

Dear Eddi,

Witcher 3 again: Triss or Yen?

I went for Triss in the previous games as I hadn't read the books or seen the show and Yennefer's character just didn't appeal to me (far too much like hard work!). So I got to the part where you can let Triss go in the third game, but chose not to and all seemed good. Then I thought that it would be more canonical to make the opposite choice (and it seems as if there may be more to do if you do) even though Yen's behaviour is even more off-putting so far, so I went back and chose to let Triss depart. But the look on poor Triss's face and the fat guy's comments made me think I'd made a bad choice.

What should I do, Eddi?

Finished Halo 4 from the MCC, surprised to see Halo 5 isn't on there. With halo Infinite coming it'll be the only one missing on PC I think which is strange.

I went through them all on MCC for Xbox over the last month.

Yes, for PC you think they'd add the ability to include 5, which would give them the chance to optimise it for Series X and S too, but apparently there are no plans!

Which is a shame, cause it's a stunning game to look at. Story? Well, not so hot really, but gameplay and visuals it's really pretty.

Yeah I'm pretty gutted really because I don't have a games console. Hopefully the plot of 5 isn't integral to the plot of infinite! Replaying GTA V at the moment, I've only played it once and that was when it was first released on PC and my hardware wasn't really up to it.

Well with how 5 ends (and not spoiling it for you) it really should be integral!

But, the good news is for Games Pass Ultimate subscribers, Cloud streaming beta for Windows 10 PCs is coming in the spring, so you should at least be able to fire up Halo 5 Guardians on any Windows 10 device and play it, as it's part of the cloud offered games.

Well, started Cyberpunk 2077 last night. Very, very impressive. Maybe time to upgrade my now aging GTX970 but the Ryzen is propping it up and keeping it playable whilst still looking damn good.

Certainly a mile ahead of the console versions though - lots of fixing for them to do :(

Started it on Stadia last night. Have to say, being able to buy a game and play it seconds later, no downloads or patches, was quite pleasing. Only managed an hour or so, but no issues and looks pretty good!

N00bs!

Some of us first played Cyberpunk a very long time ago. I still have this boxed set.

I knew I wouldn't be the first person to bring this up!

Still have my source books somewhere. The version of Night City in the new game is much more colourful than the semi-black and white film-noir world I always imagined.

For me this was the level "Cortana" on Halo 3. I was so close to rage quitting and never returning to the franchise, but I'm glad I did. ODST was fun (though I didn't like the music in it), Reach was excellent and despite reviews, I enjoyed 4 (and 5 though it isn't MCC)

Considering the amount of filters I had to switch off on the Series X to improve it, I'm surprised their isn't a more "noir" filter option available tbh!

Played about three hours yesterday on the PS5, a few bugs but none that were game changing.

One Floaty gun and a section where I shot a police officer ran up to the NPC I was meeting and the police that were chasing me stopped but the people around were still cowering!

I think a lot of people playing it on the last gen consoles will struggle. I'm sure the updates and PS5 upgrade will fix a lot of the issues.

I'm really enjoying the game, great atmosphere. I'd imagine it maybe different than people were expecting, it's more a slow paced RPG than action game.

May have been better delaying the game for a few more months, but overall I'm really enjoying the game.

What did you use to run Stadia on?

Im still running my gtx 970 with a 6600k....Sounds like perfect excuse to upgrade the old girl!

Either a 4k Chromecast (ethernet connection to the router) or my gaming laptop, again with an ethernet connection to the router (put one in when running the speaker cable, so it comes out next to the sofa!)

Stadia is bearable using wireless, but I notice that I'm playing an online stream. With a wired connection, I don't, and it feels like any other console or PC game.

Spent around 5 hours on CP2077 and have requested a refund through GoG. Lost count how many times I've fallen through the map irrecoverably and losing so much progress. I'll likely give it another go next year when thigns are looking so much better.

Still a million miles ahead of anything on the consoles :(

One man's experience is another man's nightmare with CP2077. I think* if you don't have latest hardware, that's where you're suffering (on both console and PC), as they've clearly geared it for next-gen stuff.

The only glitch I had so far was in a car-chase part of a mission where I couldn't pull my gun, and my head detached from my body. Apart from that it's been almost- flawless, "almost" because another issue was that my gun was invisible at one point but everything was working fine, shooting out of my hands could have easily have been an actual experience!

Trying to stream it to Twitch is another matter, causing all kinds of stuttering and glitches on the stream, so I've decided to just play it solo and not share the experience.

*Could be entirely wrong here but that's the gist I've seen from feedback.

Playing CP2077 with an old FX-8320, RX580 and 12GB ram. It's running surprisingly smooth even with settings dialed way up.

Only issue I have seen so far is that sometimes when switching to a "cutscene" the world textures go dark. Saved and reloaded and the problem was fixed. Only about 10 hours in but having a lot of fun with it.

Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting with a lot of what's popping up. Mines going to be between the full raytracing experience and the ps4 pro but it all seems to be hanging on the RTX side of things - which is odd, as that doesn't have any effect on physics or the majority of bugs, only real time lighting.

10 hours in to CP2077 myself. I get a crash every 2 hours or so. I'm playing on Xbox One X, so last gen. Had a couple of minor glitches. Seems much better since 1.04. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

To all the CP2077 players, has anyone else had this? If I bring up the quick-hack interface (tab on PC) during combat and there's nothing I can do then I get stuck and cant find a way to back out. Is this a bug or if I'm just missing something super obvious?

So far I'm really enjoying the game and personally find the checkpointing pretty generous. Although V not appearing in RT reflections really throws me.

V won't appear in reflections as too performance heavy... apparently.

On a different note: If your using an AMD chip take a look here... I applied it and got quite the performance boost.
