I think it'll definitely be worth it a couple of months down the line, when a few of the community-made maps and game modes are hopefully picked up by the devs and added to the regular playlists. They've just added a couple of new maps but there's still not really enough variety.

When the master chief collection came out I played for a bit but found that the controller aim assist was OP so I stopped playing haven't tried since.

Trailer has an age warning.

Just finished Detroit: Become Human. Loved it! It's not perfect; I found it was sometimes hard to make a "good" decision, due to lack of clarity/visibility as to what the options were (or time); I suppose this adds to the "realism". As with many "dialogue choices" in games what the on screen choice was and what the characters then said often didn't fit, too. Plus I wish I'd had Markus's chatting up skills when I was a single guy; all it took was one chat with North and she was in love with me. Unless I've developed them in my old age ;).

What really made the game for me was the amount of choices you can make (you can see a redacted decision tree at the end of each chapter) which include characters dying, and the way it draws you in emotionally. Even I ended up worried for a child, and as for the climax to Markus's story (or at least "my" ending), well at first I wasted good suffering and then, when things worked out, the relief that flooded through me was incredible.

I'm amazed there hasn't been talk of a film as it's very cinematic. As long as they have the Markus strand much the way I played it, especially the end, and the Kara strand broadly similar (though with more of Luther and possibly a more upbeat ending than the one I got). I messed up Connor's strand badly, though. I think he should have been much more active towards the end, but I managed to get him terminated :(.

"Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" currently <£3 on Steam. Buy it and probably never get around to playing it as I hardly ever use the PC for gaming, or wait for the price to drop on PlayStation (was £7 a couple of years back) with a slight chance of playing it?

Wow, how did this thread gone over a year without a post?! We were all too busy gaming, I guess?

I'm waiting very patiently for Horizon: Forbidden West on PC, but in the meantime I'm playing a couple of games I played a lot last year:

I'm playing Star Wars: Jedi Survivor on a New Game + run in an attempt to wrap up all the achievements (I have one left, and it doesn't seem to want to unlock, perhaps because of the NG+). I played it at launch to completion on my first playthrough, and if anyone remembers, it had a disastrous launch on PC - The performance was awful even on half-decent hardware. This time around, it runs quite a lot better and I'm able to get at least 60fps solidly. It's a great game, very satisfying and really expands on the gameplay in the first game.

My mate and I are also doing a second co-op playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3, and yesterday, I continued a solo playthrough that I started back in August. It's thoroughly deserving of all the praise and awards it got and I cannot recommend the game enough - I knew it was going to be good because Larian developed it, I bought it in Early Access but waited for the full release, and it really is a step above. If anyone's interested, I chose to play as a Dragonborn Paladin in our first co-op playthrough (a character I created for the tabletop game) and it was a lot of fun doing a lot of damage and smiting everyone! For our second playthrough, I'm playing a Halfling Rogue. In my solo playthrough, I'm playing a Half-Elf Storm Sorcerer. I'm really enjoying both classes I'm currently playing - They're very different, but both can be very satisfying!

This year, I'm now freed from doing silly challenges (I aimed to get a PS Platinum for each letter of the alphabet within the year - which is harder than it sounds!), so currently I'm flitting between a few games...

Robocop: Rogue City: It does a very good job of making you feel like you're Robocop - however it never appears to set the bar very high. If you're a fan though - I'd recommend.

Diablo IV: It's Diablo... run around laying waste to the denizens of hell, looting them.

Power Wash Simulator: Think it sounds boring and a waste of a game? Think again. While it never gets the adrenaline pumping, it's one of the most relaxing and cathartic games I've ever played.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous: While I await the physical release of Baldur's 3 on PS, still - a damned good game with brilliant mechanics and characters "Thanks, Lann - you're awesome, Lann".

Resident Evil 2 (Remake): A brilliant remake of an already brilliant game.

I tried the demo for this and I was quite impressed! I've not taken the plunge and bought the game yet, but I might think about it if I see it on sale at some point.

Powerwash Simulator is amazing, and the tie-in DLCs that they're releasing are really high-quality. A very satisfying, chill game!

I got really into Lonely Mountain Downhill in the back half of last year.

Not quite what I was expecting, but great fun and good for bite-sized gameplay sessions. I thought it was going to be a nice, gentle mountain-biking thing - But it's pretty hard core.

I keep trying to get back into Cyberpunk, but I can't quite click with the 2.0/2.1 changes.

130 Hours into Persona 5 Royal and I've almost reached the extra palaces that weren't in Persona 5... I seem to only play games with hundreds of hours of gameplay lately (Baldur's Gate 3, CyberPunk, Pathfinder: WotR) and the next few games lined up are also monsters in size (Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader, Octopath Traveller 2 and DioField Chronicle)

Replaying Borderlands 2 with a group, going through the whole series, and bringing a couple of first-timers through the series :)

Got a co-op campaign of Baldurs Gate 3 every couple of weeks. Enjoying this but we're making slow progress.

I've created a necromancer in the new season of Diablo 4 but don't think I'll be buying the battle pass this time.

I've started Palworld with my sister and it's great fun! Dedicated servers have a few issues like memory leaks and losing save games, but localhosting a multiplayer game seems to work quite well.

And I've been back on Rimworld heavily modded. I intend to actually make some progress on this save, rather than start again to 'do better next time' like I usually do!

Hardly get any time to play games currently, but managed to play Brotato (on Game pass + load of other platforms)

Loved it and got bit too addicted to it going to bed late (9pm!)

My playing of the Resident Evil 2 Remake has inspired wifey (who's much more casual with gaming) to start playing the Resident Evil 3 Remake....

There's been quite a bit of shouting - certainly at the start where it's very different from the original release.

Been trying to catch up on single player games over half term. Hogwarts Legacy has been great although my PC despite decent specs struggles in some areas. Also near the end of the death stranding (I think). Been enjoying valheim when friends are online too.

If you enjoy Valheim then you should look at Enshrouded.

Currently kneecapping then BOOOTing my way through enemies in the Resident Evil 4 Remake and stumbling around avoiding rain and things in Death Stranding.

(Oh, and just gained the Pawtinum in the wonderfully easy going Cat Quest 2)

For some reason I keep grinding away on Outriders on PC. Got five different characters I think. Over the years I dive in and out of Destiny 2 (console and PC). Played Counter Strike off and on since 1999.

I'm playing Pax Dei at the moment, some real potential but depends how the full release goes whenever that hits.

Great to travel around and see how people build entire towns.. and every few days there are some serious changes.

I picked up FragPunk recently and, ignoring the egregious monetisation (NetEase, what do you expect? But it's easily ignorable) it's actually a really solid game.

It's much like CS/Valorant, except you don't have the stupid weapon spray patterns to memorise that CS has, and you don't have currency to buy weapons with. Instead, there's a limit of how many of each weapon can be on a team at a time.

Like Valorant's characters, FragPunk's playable characters (dubbed 'Lancers') all have unique abilities but nothing too overpowered.

The main gimmick is that at the start of each round, up to 3 cards are displayed for each team, and the team gets to vote on which get into effect.

Do you want extra Converters (CS bombs)? Remove a bomb site? Enemies have big heads? Turtle backpacks that block shots from behind? Bullets that slow enemies? Bullets that ricochet? Shoot lightening? Snowy map so you can do slides? Slowly regen health? Abilities slowly refresh? (Typically you get X charges). Reveal enemies to all your teammates through walls if you headshot them? Gain a double-jump? Stay crouched for 10 seconds to lay an egg that can be eaten to regain health? Move quicker the louder you scream into your mic? And tonnes more. Each player gains a currency ('Shards') during the match for getting kills or assists (or just pity shards for losing) that are spent on these cards, and each card needs a differing number of shards to activate. It keeps things fresh.

I've been working my way through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, Despite what people say about it I actually quite enjoyed FF2, particularly if you level up the way the developers intended, rather than gaming the system.

Well speaking of @ICTDirect_Dave above - I've started playing Elite Dangerous last week again with a mate. Havent played for years and my account was mostly wiped - so it's kinda fun re-learning stuff.

Ooh, I've missed this thread!

Elite Dangerous was, prior to release and for years after, the only game I would play - I might play it for about a week every few months now. They've been really going for it with new content in its 11th year and it's really encouraging to see. I'm not so bothered about the recent Colonisation update, but there are some more new features planned this year and I'll check those out when they release.

My mates and I played The Headliners a lot over the weekend. It's a cool concept but I personally feel the gameplay loop isn't that deep. My friends seem to be hooked by it though.

My brother and I were playing Fast Food Simulator in between The Headliners sessions, and that is fairly fun, although you start off just making plain single or double hamburgers and it's a slow process to level up and unlock new ingredients. It's something like level 25 to unlock fries! Either way, our restaurant, Bab's Borgers, is doing quite well!
