Still that was... an interesting theory about Dinosaurs, like the part were they say "Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s" but is that not true of many things?

Bear in mind that the fossils dug out of the ground are usually flattened and pulled out of shape. The final forms of the 'dinosaurs' is based on conjecture and imagination. This section of the Bible (Genesis) is not and was never meant to be literal. If you believe that the bible was inspired by God you have to ask yourself, "how would I have explained nearly fourteen billion years of prehistory to a nomadic tribesman four thousand years ago?" I would not have given him an accurate factual account siting evidence he would not have comprehended. I would have done the same thing as we do for infants today. Explained it in terms he could grasp, First the earth was formed, then the sea creatures, then the land creatures and Mankind hasn't really been around that long in the scheme of things.... Anymore than that and you're really getting bogged down in the detail which isn't the point of the thing. If I've offended anyone, and I probably have, please just let me wallow in my own beliefs. I'm entitled to them as much as anyone. Your beliefs don't offend me, In fact I quite like hearing what others think. If you really feel strongly and want to get something off your chest, PM me. Now with that said, I'm going to leave it at that. I really think politics and religion should only be discussed in sectioned off areas of any forum with big red warning signs. 2

LeightonJames Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I believe that everyone is entitle to their own opinion, however I fail to understand how anyone can just completely discount years of research which definitively proves evolution. Granted there is plenty we do not know about Space and I am a firm believer in the idea that "we are not alone". By this I mean that even though life has not been found on other planets, we are looking for life based on what we understand life to be, that is Carbon Based. I feel that this is very short sighted of the human race and would welcome a discussion on this. Back on topic, this woman is clearly confused about her beliefs due to the way she is trying to impose them on other people. Others on that forum have handled the situation incorrectly however and started attacking her for her beliefs. I will admit that I called her crazy for the way she was spouting her beliefs, however that is exactly what they are, her beliefs.

mikeprice Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I suppose that if I was being finicky I could say that I do only believe in dinosaurs - I have seen no definitive evidence that they exist - any more than I have seen any real evidence that there are many different Galaxies - HOWEVER I have seen many different scientists that all agree to the existence of Galaxies and dinosaurs. In the case of Galaxies this includes a 3rd year degree course on AstroChemistry which included analysis of the spectra from Galaxies and Stars in detail. However I suppose they could have made the figures up?? I also believe most things that Brian Cox says on Tele - and I believe that he is rather good looking - although this is based on my OHs reaction as I don't fancy him myself So what I am saying - mostly to feed the trolls - is that most of us BELIEVE a lot of stuff that we do not know enough to give the title of knowledge. On that basis I can understand that some people believe that dinosaurs don't exist as the people that they listen to SAY they don't exist. My problem with people like that ones who peddle this sort of rubbish is that they only listen to ONE side of the issue - and automatically dismiss anything that doesn't agree with them - and mostly they DON'T THINK and then have the cheek to want to force their views on other that DO think. I have thought about the other side of the discussion - including trying to make sense of some American sites that would dismiss me as the Devil's instrument for teaching kids about evolution, dinosaurs and all that. So now I can say with authority that I believe Dr Brian Cox - but on a personal perspective I would rather he was less good looking and less of an ex-pop star and less intelligent and much less damn good at everything!
