We have a PC and Smart board in every classroom, also 8 machines in the staffroom and also every teacher has their own laptop to use at home which they can access our network remotely.

Desktop PC in 95% of classrooms plus staff have the option of a laptop or iPad. Currently we have around 60 or so staff with iPads.

 

Access from home is via the VLE (Moodle) and also VPN if there is a particular need.

Desktops in all rooms, all classrooms except the very smallest have a projector (mainly Epsons most of which are close to EOL, These are replaced with cheap Optomas now as they fail) Many classrooms have Smartboards, although at least half are never used as such. (however the staff HAD to have latest shiny toy when they were under discussion many years ago......)

 

SLT have laptops but all the laptops are at least 6 years old and will not be replaced when they are withdrawn. Theres a handful of other laptops kept going as emergency spares for when teachers desktops are out of commission / requiring attention.

 

No remote access offered, and rarely asked for. Site-wide staff wifi was installed last year but its barely used, the kids are desperate to get access (3G is a joke round here) but the council has refused to set it up so far.

We're an 11-18 secondary school with around 1600 students.

 

Each classroom has a PC and projector in it plus we have around 30 smartboards in various departments. There are some very very old school laptops dotted around, but as and when they die they are not being replaced. Head and Deputy Heads have laptops and the head also has an iPad. We provide remote access via Windows Remote Desktop which is heavily used....certainly around report time :-)

Primary with 600 pupils:

 

• Every classroom has a PC connected to Smartboard. Some classes have extra PC where feasible.

PC and IWB in Classroom, most staff areas have a PC per staff member as well.

 

The laptop entitlement for staff is dependent on the business case made by the persons line manager. Laptops are signed for by the staff member and any neglect or loss is billed back to the staff member.

 

Just had too much issues in previous places with complete neglect of laptops, i.e. Staff member comes in complains laptop not working properly, they lent the laptop to their children and now it doesn't work but demanding we drop everything because they want it fixed now.

I don't know if it's just me but I'm a tad surprised at how many iPads are rolling around, we're in this situation where we really can't see the benefits over them replacing a laptop/workstation in the classroom/work area/wherever.

Office/Admin staff get a Windows desktop + Bursar and Exam Officer have a laptop

 

The Primaries

 

Almost every teacher has a laptop + a desktop in the classroom for the IWB (1 Primary has some Macbook Airs for the some teachers, will be more later in the year).

1 Primary has also given every teacher an iPad, another 2 Primaries have given some teachers iPads.

Secondary School here, We provide every teacher with a laptop that they can take to each class and home. They can use CC4Anywhere (Citrix Xenapp) to access their school documents/shared area/MIS.

Primary school here - 600+ students. All teaching staff get 2 x Desktop PC in their room, one connected to interactive TV. Then teaching staff also get a laptop & iPad. Some support staff also get a staff laptop. No remote access yet, some staff use Google Drive as a "work around". I don't really see staff using their own iPad apart from pictures of Christmas time, birthdays etc. The laptops in fairness do get used for actual work.

All schools around 200, 2 primary, 1 junior.

 

All have 1 laptop/teacher (some in the junior have 2, the others there want 2). Most of the laptops will need replacing soon if the schools want to carry on that route (which they will). One of the primaries has set up remote access, but I suspect this is mainly used by SMT/admin staff. The other primary has provided a fairly reasonable Samsung tablet to each teacher in addition to their laptop.
