Hi! Our school opened in 2020 and was fitted with all new equipment. As the school has grown the DT department have found which machinery works for them and which doesn't. They are looking to sell or trade in for more suitable equipment. Could anyone point me in the right direction of a company that might buy the equipment or any schools would be interested please get in touch with me as well. The equipment I have been told about it is: Optimum TU 3008G metal lathe - Optimum OPTIturn TU 3008G Guide and traction spindle lathes – Excel Machine Tools Optimum S 131GH metal band saw - Optimum OPTIsaw S 131GH Metal band saw – Excel Machine Tools Denford Turn CNC lathe (not sure on specific model) This machinery has only been used a maximum of once or twice as we don't done any metalwork.

Hello all, I was just wondering if there was anyone on here that has a school taking part in the SAMHE pilot, one of my primaries is taking part. In the new year they are hoping to get 2000 schools onboard and will be looking at air quality in classrooms. I think it will be an interesting study but monitors are Arduino devices and I have experienced some connectivity issues with it. Jason

We have used AVM to design and install a sound system in the activity studio in our new building, and as part of our Video wall install they created a sound system that uses a tablet to control the screen and audio. Hello All, Hope you are well! We have a lot of old equipment we can't take with us into our new building, this includes projectors, desktops, monitors etc. Does anyone have a recommendation of companies that may want to purchase these to sell on as refurbished stock or are there any schools on here that may want some of the equipment? It seems a shame to just dispose of equipment that might be old still working. Thanks in advance Jason

Hello all, I am starting to look at filtering again, we want more granular options and reporting then what we are getting with our ISP provided filtering, so we are looking at going to filtering our end to have more management over it. I have used Smoothwall and Lightspeed in the past and they had the functions/feature we liked but our ISP has moved away from these, is there any other providers that you would recommend I take a look at? It will need to work on BYOD devices as well as school owned Chromebooks/Laptops and Macs. Thanks in advance Jason

We have a pile of server rack rails are these any good to anyone? we are located in Herts and would rather it was collection only.

We did suggest that it being on the last day of term it may put some people off, although it does allow you to get offsite a day earlier

Hello @ITGURU, I know we are nowhere near the 100mb we are have currently but we are introducing 1:1 scheme with Chromebooks and already use GAfE heavily so our useage will be on the up and we don't want to hit any pitfalls with the scheme.

Thank you @exa_john. We have been told that we could go upto 1gb at a flick of a switch, however, we have now been quoted a large amount up front to make a change at the exchange and then to increase our yearly rental by the same again and would be capped at 200mb. Does this sound normal?

Hello All, Not sure if this is the right place to post this. We have been quoted an outrageous about to upgrade our broadband to 200mb through LEA. Has anyone else moved to another ISP? and did you have to get new IP ranges or were you able to keep your existing ranges? I'm sure I'll have more questions when we look more into it. Think the 11" ones are fine for class use however our teachers that are on the pilot have said it is abit small for them, also they only have HDMI out which is a problem if a teacher with one uses a projector that only has VGA input.

Hi we have just got 6 devices to pilot in the school, we have gone for Dell Chromebooks 11 (1 has a touchscreen) and an LG Chromebase. the chromebase seems really good as a desktop replacement where you do not need specialist programs.

We are just looking at getting some in our school and are tying it in with trialing Google Classroom. I have used GADS to sync the usernames from AD and I am toying with the idea of putting GAPS on so we can sync passwords if they are changed on the windows network. I currently import groups and group memberships using GAM but seems to be a very manual process.

Hi all we are just looking into both of these, however we decided on GADS at the moment as it looked like Google Apps School Directory Sync relies on a CSV exported from MIS or SIS

Yeah that is what I thought would be the case however our staff want to trial GAFE. Have you managed to get any of them to sync with AD so that you don't have multiple logins? we have also noticed the Office365 for business app doesn't really work on iOS
