Its not something as simple as the usb ports being switched off by the operating system is it? Ive had one or two erratic problems where the keyboards & mice were suddenly none responsive for no apparent reason Turning off the power management to the usb sub systems was the answer.

The standard definition versions of Yesterday Drama & Really went clear in the last 24 hours & should be added to Freesat epg's 162/163/164 today sometime.

Sky transmit off 3 satellites - & they own ANY of the satellites they transmit on - they are owned by SES Astra based in Luxembourg. Sky rent their all capacity exactly the same as the BBC & ITV do. Sky have vastly overpaid for their last lot of football rights, and now its starting to show. It will be decades before the internet infrastructure in the UK is ready to turn off satellite tv signals - I live 1.5 miles from the local fibred town & I get 2.6meg at home. Which is just about ok for running youtube vids on!

The Sky free channels have always been significantly different from the Freeview offerings. However the differences will be reducing in the next few weeks when 3 or 4 of the UKTV channels drop the encryption & go clear (Yesterday Drama & Really) (Standard definition versions only)

[Election15] Are you going to watch the leaders TV debate tonight?
Nibiru replied to SovietRussia's topic in General Chat

Hoping to get rid of the last of the approx 9 year old Epson S3 vga projectors, as the picture quality on them is appalling now.......

None - you dont think about streaming your entertainment when your bb tops out at 2.5 meg! We don have Sky's entertainment package though (base pack - no sports or movies)

All 650 MPs to receive an iPad Air 2 and laptop post-election

Such a pity mobile devices werent around in the days of Yes Minister - the writers could have had soooo much fun with assorted scenarios -
Left to right Philips 190B (management console open on it) Acer X223W (main working screen) Hans G HW 191D (the important one - has the music selection on it!) Neuvo E191 (sticky notes to remind me to do various things) All cast offs from around the school. Why do I have 4? because I havent worked out how to get 5 on the desk Having got use to a big desktop area its horrible trying to go back to a single screen setup. I did have some pupils come in a few weeks ago asking if they could use my desk for the lair of the power crazed madman in the play they were filming for their English project....

Best place is apparently Winchester for me - which as I wouldnt dream of living anywhere south of Birmingham is a bit odd. (Nice for a visit for a couple of days, get away north again as soon as possible) Worst place - Ealing, which being inside the M25 is absolutely correct

IT Budget 2015 - What's your big spend?
Nibiru replied to Dos_Box's topic in Budgets and Expenditure
What is this strange word "budget" you speak of? Half a dozen decent projectors to replace the oldest ones on the site is about as much as I can look forward to here....... EDIT ^^ snap! -
App Inventor is an awful bit of software. Our council IT spent ages getting the emulator running - then MIT updated it and broke it again. So IT fixed it - now its recently been updated & its broken it again. We have never had any success with getting it to connect to tablets - it just doesnt work for some reason. Its obviously another bit of software that never been tested properly in a locked down school style profiles.

I used to listen to Panet Rock a lot but the inane chatter & the bloody adverts finally killed my enthusiasm. So I just put my mp3s on random play now.
