I'm finishing on Friday lunchtime and then driving to Newquay on Saturday to visit my new partner's daughter and family (600 mile round trip!). Back on the 23rd ready to spend our first Christmas together. It's the first time for a long time that I've taken much time off over the holiday but this year is going to be different. really looking forward to Christmas this year.

Iain.Faulkner Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) We've got brother in law and his wife and children coming up on 23rd (they're staying with the in-laws), staying till boxing day. So we'll spend most of 23rd/24th at the in-laws doing various things. On Christmas day itself, 13 people (Me, wife, 3 x children, my mum and dad, in-laws, brother in law + Wife + 2 children and my Grandma) are coming to ours for Christmas day (I am cooking, love doing it :-) ). Then boxing day, brother in law goes to his wife's family. 2 of our children go to their dad's for Christmas number 2 and the rest of us relax and savour the peace :-) Edit: Forgot to add....finish on Monday and then off work till the 6th January :-) Don't normally take that much time off work in one go (haven't done it since April 2013 in fact), and I'll be bored and grump by the 27th most likely, but at this point in time I'm looking forward to a nice long break from work :-) Edited December 15, 2014 by Iain.Faulkner

Christmas meal and exploration with Military history group sunday, talk from local historian during. Back to work monday to do a couple of updates and a tweak to the firewall. Home day tuesday finshing the wood store and digging compost into the veg patch. Xmas meal with 'the girls' - The Missus' friends - on xmas eve. Quiet xmas day with The Missus, My family for Boxing day Twixtmas kayaking expedition 27th. Trip to devon to see The Missus' sister 28th/29th 2 days work at my old place imaging new pcs New years day walk with the family Drive to wales to see the inlaws 2nd-4th. Back to work on Monday! pcstru Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I thought I was going to have a nice quiet couple of weeks with a cheese and biscuit Crimbo dinner like last year. Instead Daughter is arriving on 22nd and staying until the 2nd. After that, I might need a holiday.
Sagima Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Managed to avoid spending it in Sweden this year. I'll be cooking christmas dinner for the first time for us and my in-laws at home. Will be able to have Christmas over and done with in one afternoon!

HTCPCP Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 The same thing we do every Christmas, Pinky - try to take over the world! On a serious note, drink too much, ignore the diet, not sleep enough and become grumpy by the end of it before coming back to work and thinking that was a wasted break!
nyiss Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I'd like to think have some time to forget about work/ uni and breath for a moment but we all know thats not what happens at Christmas..ever. Looking forward to the traditional Boxing Day game at Goodison though, always makes me feel festive.

Lots of family and friends to squeeze in during that time, going to be busy but awesome. Not seen them for over a year and a half. 2

Annual Christmas Eve bash with sister and family - usually at hers and mine in turn but this year number one son and girlfriend are hosting it at their new house! Apparently some awesome games will be played. Christmas day at home with mrwITch, the other two children and a stray friend of number two son. Visiting number one son in the pm with his "in-laws" Visiting in-laws for big family party on 27th -including various hitherto unknown Serbian relatives, apparently. New Year's Eve in Wimborne probably where the Wimborne Militia salute the New Year.
andyturpie Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 My first Christmas as a widow so I will be taking flowers to the grave and spending an hour or so in the cemetery in the morning. Myself and my son will still be following our usual tradition by midday at the local pub with all the local families and then onto our friends house for the day (something we have done for around 7 or 8 years).

Last minute stocking filler shopping on Monday followed by making the Gingerbread House (x2 this year!) for Mum, Friends round for a Christmas gathering on our new house on 23rd, Chill out Christmas Eve morning \ Day, then go to close family friends in the evening as we've done for the last 20 years! Christmas Day - Round at parents, they currently have a live in house with their job and are retiring after 10 years there, so having "One last Christmas"! Boxing day - extended family round! Relax up until the 2nd when I'm back in!

Get picked up by Mother on Christmas Eve Stay there until Boxing Day Drive with Mother from Glossop to Warrington (rather nice of her!) to pick up the girlfriend (as her little one is spending boxing day+ with the father) Drive back to Glossop Stay there some more Somehow get home whenever I feel like it (likely train) Lounge around some more. Sleep lots. Go back to work on the 5th.

Odd chrimbo this year, eldest now married so will be in his own house, middle pain now in relationship and spending Christmas with her family. Only youngest son home with me and hubby so I will cook too much, weep a bit , laugh a lot and count my blessings. Then walk my two dogs and my new foster basset for miles and miles, have to get the basset into shape for a new home in the new year.
