My 10074 got rolled back :doh:

Suspect that it was due to it being "Fast" when I started and now is GA so it got scrweed up...

Hmm 10074 keeps failing for me.

Mine downloaded and went through the installation, but when it rebooted, it shutdown (as in powered off) a few times when it started to load Windows!!

I'm still on 9926, every time it tries to update to 10074 the computer reboots and then tells me it couldn't install, not really bothered I'm running 10074 at home and there's hardly any change from what I can see.

Windows Media Center is dead.

 

In a private meeting this week at the Build developers' conference in San Francisco, a Microsoft executive confirmed to me that there will be no update to the company's Media Center software for Windows 10.

 

The decision is a disappointment to the small but incredibly vocal army of Media Center enthusiasts, who had held out hope that a Windows 10 Media Center add-on, similar to the one offered for Windows 8, might appear at the last minute.

 

That's not happening. Any PC that is upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 will lose the Media Center functionality, and there's no way to get it back.

 

Windows Media Center "isn't compatible with Windows 10," and it's not going to be.

 

That decision shouldn't come as a surprise. Media Center, once a signature feature of Windows "premium" editions, has been on life support for years. The team developing Media Center features was broken up in 2009, shortly after delivering the final Media Center code for Windows 7.

 

Microsoft grudgingly offered an extra-cost Windows Media Center Pack add-on for Windows 8, which installed the required codecs and Media Center features to that version, but it was a straight port that included no new functionality. It was introduced with a post that pointedly declared that Media Center was not part of "the future of entertainment."

 

And with the rise of the "cord-cutting" movement, with consumers increasingly turning to streaming services and ditching cable subscriptions, it's hard to fault the economics of Microsoft's decision.

My 10074 has a couple of oddities on my Laptop (HP Compaq 6820s)

 

No Background on the Lock Screen

Random cases where the Taskbar, Start Menu and Modern Apps / Notifications Area wont open until I reboot..

 

Also had a problem installing from DVD - it failed stating that there were no Mass Storage drivers, but when I browsed to try and find them, it found a C: Drive (old Win8.1 Install), the DVD and the USB drive... - Installed from SCCM fine!

 

All fine on a VM so guessing it could be age of my laptop :(

true but a framework interface and srandardised keys for netflix\amazon prime etc under one banner sounds like a way forward for it

That sounds a bit like the black lock screen bug that build 10061 had. Strange. :confused:

Have you installed KB3061161?

 

This update rollup includes a collection of fixes for the following issues:

 

  • The Start menu and Cortana do not open on Windows 10 Insider Preview after upgrading from Windows 10 Technical Preview
  • Windows Error Reporting data remain in queue and are not uploaded
  • Updated versions of preinstalled apps might not install with error 0x8004264A after upgrading to Windows 10 Insider Preview
  • Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth radio controllers might not function and indicate a Code 43 error in Device Manager
  • Automatic updates might not initiate on mobile devices if an app on the device is not in the Store catalog
  • Apps that are deployed to an SD card on mobile devices might not install or open
  • This update fixes a hang that can occur when updating battery status

This update rollup also includes the following improvement:

 

  • This update enables the Dolby Digital Plus codec
