I've after some recommendations for suppliers of general ICT equipment, you know the kind of thing, printers, hard drives, projectors, the occasional laptop or PC one off orders etc. When we buy decent numbers of pcs/laptops we obviously get multiple quotes, but I'd like a good supplier of 'misc'!

Preferences are:

- Good online catalogue

- Credit terms!

- Free or reasonable delivery costs

Anyone got some suppliers they'd like to recommend?

I'd recommend us! :)

The only thing that we don't have that you've asked for is an online catalogue but you can feel free to send me Misco/Insights etc part codes and I'll beat their prices PLUS give you free shipping

I've never used the web shop.. much prefer to call or email over requirements and let the account manager do the leg work.

My general list:

Millgate, CP Ltd, Very PC are all nice people to deal with

Insight are good if you can get a decent account manager

Misco and BT Business Direct I will use if I have to

I would also say, don't be suckered into using one of the purchasing consortiums or government frameworks unless you really have to, they tend to work out dearer than direct to the suppliers.

BT Business for a handy one stop shop, even if they aren't the cheapest (ask for Wayne Lythgoe)...

Futurform for toners and projector lamps.

For certain situations we use Oli at Inspiranet as he will literally get you anything, we use him to buy from high risk suppliers like alibaba or from foreign ebay, as he buys on credit card and then invoices us on 30 day terms when the stuff arrives!

^^^ THIS!!

We have an account on the BT Business Direct (dabs.com) web-shop, which I use for small purchases like USB hubs, drives, SD cards, etc. Prompt delivery and reasonable prices, but I wouldn't use them for major purchases.

I've been introduced to @VeryPC through this forum and find them to provide very good products and excellent, friendly customer service.

AVPartsmaster has always been our port of call for projector spares in the past.

Although I've never actually bought anything from them (yet), I can also say:

I had a really helpful conversation with Kate from @Millgate this morning, regarding Microsoft licensing, that saved me from wasting money.

Likewise, I've received some great bargain offers from @ICTDirect_Dave and heard good reports from other forum users (keep 'em comin' Dave. One of these days...)

Novatech

BIST - always a pleasure to talk to the chap we know there

Millgate are creeping in there as well :)

Ooh, forgot Supplies for Schools, very good for projector bulbs, but as we are 90% Casio projectors now we don't use them a great deal anymore.

In no particular order. 😉

AV partsmaster

Insight

LDD

Millgate

Misco

Stone

Viglen

XMA (just had some sort of merger with viglen, i think Western Group bought viglen.)

I think these are all my major suppliers.

There are a few others that i send quotes to but last few times I've bought at less than their buying price.

Softcat

Ebuyer - trade account with online ordering/credit makes it easy to spec up and other things

Are all my first point of contact for most things. I like them mainly because I can email them all Ebuyer/Amazon or other site links and get better quote back in minutes or they tell me deal is good price and to go with it.

I can be pretty demanding, i don't like people coming back to me with a 'better' price. I normally email out at least 3 for anything over £100.

All my account managers now know that they need to supply their best price first. Saves me days of going back and forth.

We do a lot of iPad stuff in school too and we've just stayed using a company called JustAskEden for repairs. Doing us a great price on screen replacements.

They are based just outside of Leeds and do pick up and drop off.

idns.co.uk are worth a look at too.

I tend to use a few suppliers, as each is good in their own way.

AMC Computer Supplies tend to be great for us when it comes to small purchases because of the free delivery. They always beat Misco.

Didn't realise Millgate did free delivery.
