If you only want it for back you should look at Azure site recovery https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/services/site-recovery/ you can back up VMs to Azure and in event of failure boot them in Azure to work over site to site VPN . Cost is about £25 a cold VM per month

Are you using the copper ports to the left of the fibre module ? Most likely they are dual personality ports and you can only use one or the other , the copper takes priority over fibre module . Else will be patch cable needs swapping over . To see which is the transmission cable hold piece of paper over the end of the cable and one I'll have slight red glow , don't look straight in to the cable because it is a laser

Avast problem - to be aware
xenonive replied to timbo343's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I have also found the network scanning from Avast can cause some routers to reboot. -
You could have your server download the games/updates then copy the steam cache folder over to your gaming rig when you turn it on , as it's the same steam account logged in won't be any issues .

Got my invite cheers

Could be worth contacting http://www.emeiatec.com as they are offering free iboss hardware at moment. Might help bring the costs down when changing appliances.

This month I've started to have this issue with some zoostorm machines so making think maybe windows update issue or driver via windows update as been fine for last year .
-
Only our main computer rooms as they run weekly 30 min SIMS training sessions for staff , we also have it on every teacher machine at front of each room . We image and update every half term via SCCM but never have tried putting SOLUS in the image as thought it had to be deployed by server so machine is registered with server. Just noticed reinstall agent option too this would solve my issue with imaging.
-
I don't know if its 3.9 update or previous one but I'm happy I can remove more than one computer at a time as it was pain when imaged room of machines then had to remove agents one at a time to then redeploy SOLUS.

Just quick bit of input . You could look at nearline SAS drives , not as fast as SAS drives but more capacity than SAS at same price

I'm currently doing a long term server backup of MIS server /sharepoint split over a few M-DISC blu rays once a year to have a system to be able to read our backups unless upgrade has been preformed then use normal backup system to temp restore second server if needed. We then pay for SQLbak.com to backup and encrypt/store every day our SQL databases to a backup account on Google drive which has unlimited data. We are currently storing about 1tb stored so far.

With Veeam you have 3 options for backup direct connected to SANs , network backup and host proxy . If you want to backup direct from SANs then Veeam server needs direct connection to your SAN network , else you can just use the host server as proxy as they will have direct connection . Network backup is just when you want to use a backup proxy that sits on your live network so I use this over night when no one else is at the school using the network.
-
Also to point out 12 cores is only 6 connections as you need a core to send on and a core to receive back.

I'm using HP wireless with no issues but did see company called Airtight are now in the UK , this is the wireless used in the pentagon. Seem to be fully cloud controlled and has ability to kill other wireless networks and hotspots students might bring in .

We had the same issues , we redeployed with Print Management tool in administrator tools rather than our previous manual entries in group policy printer section and they work fine now. Guide here . https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755424%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

I've got the HP 4335 SAN end of last year which suited our situation running network raid 10 which was same as our Lefthand network solution we had installed 6 years a go. We paid £30k for dual units synced opposite end of the site for fire protection and they are HA/load balanced via cluster IP so have to say I'm happy with them so far and snapshot supported backups in Veeam work very well .

iPad Repair Service ? Any Recommendations ?
xenonive replied to rich_tech's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I've used Millgate for repairs , was quick and to high standards so happy to recommend them . -
I've got a QNAP 8 drive 859 pro and with both network cards teamed together getting at about 150-180MB/s throughput on backups I'm doing and with drives being in RAID 10 (half the amount of storage )you should have enough IOPS to handle 16 clients connecting and writing at same time .

Hopefully now that Google Vault is free to all educational sites Microsoft will consider giving educational sites access to eDiscovery and hold on accounts for free .- 14 replies
