Thanks - I maybe wasn't clear in my original post. I'm not looking for a replacement projector (at all). I'm trying to run the board without a projector attached directly to it; we already have a ceiling mounted projector in place.

Hi, We have recently moved a SMART M600 (I think!) which had a UF70 projector attached in the original location, but it doesn't fit in the new location so was removed. As the projector originally powered the board, our supplier ordered us a replacement power supply. However, they've had difficulty sourcing this, and I am concerned that there might be some confusion as to what exactly is required. Having connected an appropriate 5v power supply to the board, I can see it gets power, but won't turn on. If I connect the projector control cables (and have the projector connected at the other end) I can then turn the board (and projector) on. If I disconnect the projector, the board remains powered and working. So the board is able to work independently with a separate power supply, but it won't turn on without the projector attached. My question is - is there a particular power supply required to run the board without the projector attached, which comes with some sort of null cable for the projector port? Or do I need something else? My follow-up question is - if there is an answer to my first question, do you know where I can order it from? Many thanks, Dave

Mobile hotspots. EE do an "in car wifi" unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. I have one in my car that the Android stereo unit connects to. 4G, so pretty decent.

There isn't a "paid deal" as such. Each AP has to be licensed in order to manage it. The free AP comes with a free three year licence (or at least, ours did about 2 years ago).

Agree that this is a good working figure then. As an independent, we have to add VAT on so I tend to look at the total price! I would tend to allocate a budget figure of about £500 for standard PCs, and increase by about 50% for anything 'special'.

I think the switch question is the relevant one. I can't see why you need to swap out the router when as Bossman says you just need a switch connected behind your router to split the connection for wireless etc.

We have an active and passive cab next to each other (so patch panels in one cab, and switches in another). Another alternative we use is to put the switches at the front of the cab and the patch panels at the back of the cab, and patch along the sides. It's a good space saver.

It is absolutely not an all or nothing approach - that's why it's called a framework. The point is that you're supposed to implement the bits that suit your organisation. It's the flexibility that makes it so useful. So for instance, FITS is essentially ITIL that has already been cut down and adapted to work in a school environment.

Definitely wire, although Cat5e would be cheaper and easier to run/terminate. Unless you have something unusual going on in your house, it should suffice.

I'm ITIL, PRINCE2, and FITS certified. I don't think I've ever seen a school asking for an ITIL qualification, and not sure it is particularly necessary - most schools won't follow much of the ITIL framework. FITS is a better fit (pun intended) for schools, being a cut-down version of ITIL designed specifically for schools. Definitely worth getting your techs qualified in this too. If you're looking at a move to industry, then ITIL and PRINCE2 are both worth having. I got them both for my current position, but they would stand me in good stead if I decided to move on. I'd suggest foundation level for ITIL is sufficient for most practical uses and job applications. For PRINCE2 you can do a 5 day course and get up to Practitioner level. Note that the qualification only lasts for a finite period before you need to re-qualify. The biggest problem with ITIL and PRINCE2 is that they're not cheap!

If you call the breakdown provider, they usually let you upgrade on the spot. Alternatively, a good mobile mechanic could fix it in the car park cheaper than signing up to a new breakdown company.

I don't know about WW3 breaking out with Russia, but I'm sure getting scared of this forum!
