  13. Simple answer: Stop doing it any other way. By doing it that way, you are giving them no reason to stop. Stand up, be strong. Make sure your systems are easy to use and log (ie a helpdesk with email piping.) And only do those tickets. It's tough to start, but the message soon gets around. It wont win you friends, until they realise you work faster and more efficient this way.
  14. We are looking to expand our team with a friendly, helpful and dependable first line tech to join our team of 9 others. We are a friendly bunch and have our own building at our home school and support 9 schools (4 first/5 middle) on a rota with a central helpdesk. Car is required. Laptop and phone provided. Lots of CPD available, including BETT visits, seminars and future possible access to apprentice qualifications. We also regularly promote from within, which is why we always need first line techs. 15. Hi all ICT Technician (Scale 3 Point 14) Term Time + TEDs + 5 days 1 year Temporary Contract Salary: £14,352 per year. Closing Date: 17th July 2017 Interviews w/b 17th July 2017 Start Date: 1st September 2017 More info: Vacancies | St Bede's ICT Support Team We are looking for our 9th technician to join our team. We support 9 schools, and are now providing SIMs support to schools. Our team is a friendly bunch and we pride ourselves in our development of staff within the team. We have taken those with little experience who are now in 2nd line roles, offer CPD regularly in house and on course and have our own dedicated office block. Whilst this job is an entry level position, for the right candidate there is lots of potential and a great team and working atmosphere. We are expanding by a couple of schools a year, and this is our 2nd new post this year.
  16. Steve, if this is because of the email from IBS, have you got a copy of your actual contract end date? IBS have only done this to scare people into signing back up, because CIS are about to launch a service. Many renewals for the schools I manage are not due to 2018. Earliest is December 17.
  17. Hi folks Our unique team is looking to replace a tech who has recently got an internal promotion. We are a team of 7 supporting 3 middle schools and 4 first schools in Redditch and Bromsgrove, the position is for first line support, working to a timetable in various schools we support. We have a NM, senior tech, 2nd line tech and 2 first line techs as well as an admin support. You must have your own transport, a sense of humour, a decent taste in music. We can teach the ways of our networks and update an existing skills base - but we cannot teach the enthusiasm, dedication and hard work ethic we want from our team. Customer service is at the core of all we do. Our team work under high pressure but can still enjoy the unique nature of our team. We have our own bungalow as of our office, you get a uniform, a laptop and an iPad as well as room for development within the team. More info: Vacancies | St Bede's ICT Support Team
  18. I have, I am working with AH in charge of PM and as I am a member of SMT it has been discussed that this is the right route to take - but I was just after some starting points rather then from scratch.
  19. Hi all My team is expanding again, and will soon be at 7 people. I wanted to move away from the Performance management documents the school provide, as they are geared towards teachers. I wondered if anyone had any IT specific documents at all? Cheers Matt
  20. Netflix and free view, considering now TV. All through apple TV
  21. This was asked for, in my case, because we are moving insurers as we are now a MAC, we have been using Parago, and they have entered all the details for us - but I want to use my own Excel spreadsheet as I prefer that, but it doesn't have costs listed in, its more an inventory for us of our equipment.
  22. Budget stuff, ie recurring software costs etc are useful. We now have a handover document, as we support 5 sites and anyone could end up there, created over Xmas when someone left. Used everyday now by new techies.
  23. We use Luke @ Millgate for lots of stuff. I like having a personal account manager who I can get on well with, but they do deliver on time, and where they are issues they are upfront and proactive. I haven't used them to deliver networking support - but I know this is something they are pushing at the moment and would have no hesitation giving them a try. We used Novatech to build our core network, which is all fine and good for a bit of balance
  24. Luke at MillGate, Simon at Novatech, Ebuyer for quick stuff.
  25. All of the schools we manage we have brought new Novatech all in one machines, i5, 4gb and 120gb ssd with 22" monitor. I think it's really important to give them decent pcs, and would never give them second hand PCs. Classroom pcs affect every lesson, so they need to be decent, also where we have replaced laptops with desktops, support requests fall massively.
