superatticman Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Gerrard was awful, doesn't have the energy (who would at his age?) that he used to as a player, and that was a lot of his game, yes he can pass a good ball, but on the international stage he was not good enough this year. Gerrard has arguably been the biggest let down of the so called 'golden generation'. Even during his prime, he often went missing when England needed him the most. Lampard was often the fall guy for England failings in midfield where as Gerrard for some reason escaped criticism.

Chopps Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Well after bringing the entire 'The Works' shop to a mute, shocked stanstill last Saturday when my daughter asked for an England Mask and I replied to her (not knowning I was that loud) "No as they will be home in about a week so you won't get to wear it for long" and everyone and I mean EVERYONE stopped with a gasp and stared at me... so I rapidly and embarrased sucurried out of the shop as they were telling me I had no faith in the team, and no english spirit. I feel bad now...oops! But maybe what I said may have been true!

From BBC Sport - World Cup 2014: England boss Roy Hodgson 'not resigning' England need Italy to win their remaining group games against Costa Rica and Uruguay to stay in the tournament.Roy Hodgson's side then need to beat Costa Rica in their final group game. England, Uruguay and Costa Rica would then each be on three points and qualification would be decided on goal difference. But the statistics are not on England's side as no team has ever lost their opening two games at a World Cup and progressed from the group. If we qualify I'll eat my hat.

That's not right our GD is -2 and Uruguay have -1. As long as they lose and we win we will finish above them. We could do with Italy winning by at least 3 tonight to bring Costa Rica GD down to -1 too.

Nope, Italy need to beat Uruguay by 2 goals to ensure that their GD is -3 so England don't finish bottom of the table, and England need a 3 goal margin to ensure they finish above Costa Rica on goal difference by +1 *edit* it was a typo, was not 200-1, was meant to be 20-1
