Well, look who I bumped into earlier this evening....... Hey.....Long time, no see, how are we all? I'm still enjoying retirement, playing Elite, reading a lot, still building the model railway........still breathing If anyone else is still flying Elite, look me up on Inara.cz, say 'Hi'. Take care, everyone. o7 Commanders

Yeah, you will. I had my first PvP encounter a few days ago. Waked into Wyrd to visit The Dweller, was hailed by a human in a FdL, told me I was 'In Violation of the No-Fly Zone' his wing had imposed over Black Hide. I thought, 'No Fly Zone, don't be silly' so I ignored him, he tried to interdict me, I evaded, got down to Black Hide where his two mates took me to pieces in less than thirty seconds. Lost all the cargo I was carrying for next Engineers level, but learned a lesson about valour, discretion and role-play. Ho-hum, back to the grind.

Does anyone else listen to Radio Sidewinder? I don't mean while in-game, I mean, like, ermmm, all the time. Does that sound sad? Someone tell me it's not sad, please.

Checking in late to the party. How many of us played the original, back in the day? I'm a veteran of Elite, Frontier and Frontier:First Encounters. About six months in, Dangerous has been only minor disappointments so far.

Well, late to the party here, as always. I've been in Elite since about April. Haven't been to Merope to do the 'Wrecked Alien Ship Selfie' yet, but I got to Maia and bought some meta-alloys for Felicity Farseer. Heading off to Merope 5 when the tourist-rush has died down Really glad I had the idea from somewhere to look on here. The Frontier Forums are just so toxic. I'm on Inara.CZ instead. Much more useful, friendly, informative and fun. PM me and I'll show you my Licence Fly Safe, Commanders.

I'm so glad I'm retired and don't have to deal with rolling out Windows iOS....sorry.....Windows 10. It seems to work a treat on my desktop and laptop at home, especially with a clean install, wasn't so good with an upgrade. Hello, everyone, by the way....how are we all?

How many of us are playing this and what are your impressions? My impression after four months grind is, 'It'll be nice when it's finished'. Oh, yeah, and 'Hi, everyone' by the way, haven't logged-on for a while.

@davidcs Over-priced, I think, more than anything. Six and a half grand, 10 years old, think it must have been one of the first new-shape models. Very low mileage for the age. A grand cheaper and I'd snap their arms off for it.

Admittedly, most of them are in London, but I saw a couple in Dorset while I was off for the winter.

I've seen a beautiful SLK on Autotrader, been watching it for six months now. it was taken off for a week, but reappeared with a price reduction of £400. Guess they thought they'd sold it. It's in a used car dealer, somewhere north of Luton. And I love it, I want it and I would sell my children into slavery for it. They're grown-up now anyway, so it wouldn't matter. I'd post a link but I'm afraid someone else will swipe it will I'm trying to cobble the money together.

Thanks, @ButterflyMoon, hip, nerve, thigh, leg......I don't know which anymore. none of it stops me doing the things that make me smile.
-
Well, @witch, Day Three and I'm beginning to think it was sheer bad luck. Three months is pretty normal for a contract, most renew and turn into six months or even longer, but three months is the norm.

Primary Health Care, GP's, etc where I live are awful. Not their fault, I know, over-worked, too many patients etc. but that shouldn't excuse them for off-handedly saying 'We'll get you some physio. Next, please.' which is what it felt like. Taken all that on board Elsiegee40. This has been going on since last May, when I thought it was lack of exercise, being off-work. It was when I finished work at the end of October that I started to get some diagnosis/treatment. Already been going on too long.

Yep, huge pain in the hip, not so much the groin, but lots of numbness in my thigh, constant pins-and needles, but in different places from day to day. I've been referred for physio but the last time I went there (for a shoulder problem) was a complete and utter waste of time. I had an episode with my lower neck/back a while ago (years, in fact) which was called a 'compacted vertebrae' at the time. I'm wondering if it could all be connected. You know, like your hip bone's connected to your leg bone, your leg bone's connected to your.......I'm sure you know the rest. I keep telling myself, it's not the years, it's the mileage.

Haven't managed to get away yet, unless you count the nine weeks in Brighton. I developed a debilitating pain in my left leg and hip which I thought was going to be a hip replacement, but, after X-ray, turns out to be a 'muscular-skeletel problem with some nerve impingement', which I guess means 'Trapped Nerve'. Anyway, I can't walk more than about a hundred metres without having to stop and rest for five minutes. I looked at a trip to Naples, but the walking tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius is two hours plus. At this time, I wouldn't be able to walk from the Heathrow tube to the Check-in, let alone two hours round Pompeii. So, the travelling is on the back burner until I can un-trap this nerve, whichever one it is. Contracting is working out fine so far, though. Took Nov, Dec and Jan off, living off what I earned on the South Coast. Now the worst of the winter's over, I'm back at it for three months.

Hey, back in the old routine, as they say. Three months, starting from yesterday, at an academy in Herts. Plus ca change, c'est plus le meme chose, as they say in France.
-
I wondered how long it would be before BMW drivers copped it.
-
Yesterday. Before that, February half-term. Next time, now that I've left, is anybody's guess.

Where do you read the majority of your personal email?
Earthling replied to pete's topic in General Chat
On my desktop. I could lose my phone, I could lose my tablet, but try as I might, I can't lose my desktop anywhere. I always find it where I left it. I only have disposable e-mail addresses on my hand-held devices. -
Congratulations. Jeez, I wish I was just turning 30 again. Youth is wasted on the young. Make it count.

I've done this, too, but the license number I have won't activate. Thin kI might have copied and pasted the wrong one.

Only been back at work a couple of weeks, first time I've had chance to build a VM and run it up. Win10: Hi Me: Oh...Hiya Win10: We're setting things up for you Me: Gosh, that's very kind of you Win10: This won't take long Me: Okay, I'll wait Win10: Taking care of a few things Me: Uhh....Okay... I'll..um..stare out the window a little while. Win10: Just a few more tweaks Me: A few more tweaks? o-kaaay Win10: Unfortunately, it's taking longer than usual Me: So what else is new? Win10: Let's start Me: Sorry, don't have time now, I have to go look for my Will To Live. Start without me. So, so, so glad I'm retiring in two weeks.

Am I being 'told off'? Sorry, others have tried it in the past, with an equally resounding lack of success. I starred the wording out in deference to the Moderators on this board, so they wouldn't have a moral dilemma over whether to delete or redact my post. Doesn't make it right? Depends on your interpretation of 'right'. Illegal? Yes, but in the Great Scheme of Things, there are far more and greater illegalities being perpetrated on us by Big Biz and our own UK Government, but we all sit back and accept that. Do you ever park somewhere you're not supposed to, even for just five minutes? That's illegal. No? The only way I won't believe you don't is if you don't drive and don't own a car. Besides which, I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not the only one here who practices questionable uses of their download speed. I'm just upfront enough to admit it. Is anyone seriously telling me that you NEED 100meg/second (or even 150meg/sec) to surf the net and stream BBC iPlayer, Netflix etc? Even if you have a family of Mum, Dad and 2.3 teenagers? Don't make me laugh. VM provide 100 + speeds AND a fully populated binary newsgroup server. The last time I looked at that, they even gave links to binary NG downloaders like Grabit etc, and instructions on how to configure them for use with their servers. Why do they do that, huh? Why do they do that?

I don't think there's been a series on Sky Atlantic that I've wanted to watch, that I haven't been able to d**nl**d from somewhere on the I****n*t. It was being able to do that and to find a live stream of every Spurs game that started me thinking that I didn't need to be paying £75 pm. Judging by the number of people on here who have struck a deal with VM Retentions, it seems my summing-up of their pricing structure is spot-on. When I left, they offered me exactly the same package as I was on for £45 pm and a renewed contract. If they could do that after threatening to leave, why can't they do it as a standard price?
