When we had an identical problem to yours, we finally came to the conclusion that our server/file storage set-up was the problem. Two Snapservers iSCSI'd to a four-year old Sunfire V20z finally became 'not up to the task'. We outed the Snaps, bought a new Dell Poweredge with 16G memory and a terabyte of hard-drive (massive overkill on disk space, but hey-ho, it's cheap) and problem solved overnight, once we had migrated all the student, staff and IT support home folders and other stuff. Well.............I say 'overnight', but it took a while to migrate everything, probably a week. As for a loop, all the loops that our little darlings have created have been obvious in their immediate effect and haven't sorted themselves out after a little while....we've had to go and find them.

Oh happy me. My contract with VM has just expired the beginning of March, so I'll be on the phone to them tomorrow to clear my bill, and to start screwing them for a substantial sweetener to renew or I will move to Sky. I've been looking at Freesat too, but they don't seem to have an upgrade system (yet) where you can add premium channels. I live for Sky Sports, that's all I watch.......that and News24 and movies, DVD, downloaded or whatever. I think a free V+ box and first month's service is the least I'll settle for.......otherwise it's Sky and £30 each in M&S vouchers for myself and my ex, who's going to 'reccomend' me.

Just discovered this thread and thought I'd add my experience. Absolutely no problems with phone or bb ever since I've been with them, since 2001, when it was NTLworld, until............ ...........I took out their TV service, as well. Now the toerags cut my phone and TV off if I'm so much as half an hour late with the monthly payment. Fortunately, they dont have the wit to cut off my broadband as well, so I'm not really bothered about it. So while my TV's cut off, I download a few movies from their (fairly excellent and free) newsgroups and catch up on those while I wait for my TV to get put back on. I like Virginmeadia, they give me so many laughs, especially talking to their 'Tech Support'.

Hi Zdenka, if you ever move on to a Secondary school, you'll find the questions are more or less the same. But it's the staff that need they're buttons done up.

Thanks for that, but all the permissions are correct. Maybe I didn't explain myself properly....The list is created but, after creation, it's empty. When I do a Preview of the list, I'm told that 'No items match the current search'. I've tried creating the list on two different fields, alias and e-mail address with the same result. When I'm creating the list, the filter I've used correctly filters, and displays, the required Year 11 users, but once the list is created, it's empty.

Hiya, there doesn't seem to be a separate forum for Exchange so I'll post this in here and you admins can move it to wherever is most appropriate. I'm creating a year 11 address list in Exchange 2003 (Standard), I go through the creation process, set a filter, do the search, find all the year 11 users I want to include in this list, Click OK, Click Finish (As recommended by a reputable Exchange FAQ's website)..................and nada. Open the Year 11 Address List (which now appears in Outlook everywhere) and it's empty, nothing, zilch......not a sausage. Anyone got any ideas? Am I actually doing wrong following the instructions on MS Technet?

I worked for Fujitsu for a while as a Field Engineer, and, seriously, I wouldn't buy a Fujitsu with your money, let alone mine. If anyone's interested, we use Gaia Technologies to supply our pc's....well put together, quality components, smart, fashionable piano-black cases which the kids seem to like, because they don't attack them in the normal manner, no hassle about DOA's or ELF's.....in fact very few DOA's or ELF's. They've supplied us wit hwell over a hundred pc's now, and I can only think of one DOA, which was replaced before we even returned it.

Why on earth would anyone want to do this anyway? Laser printers are so dirt-cheap these days, buy one, when the toner runs out, chuck it away and buy another.....or buy another toner cartridge, run that out, then chuck it away, get a newer model. All that cleaning rigmarole, and all you end up with is an obsolete Epson inkjet, that needs cleaning again in six months.

Hello, my name's Mike, I'm IT tech at a school in Welwyn Garden City, Herts. I started in IT when it was called DP (Data Processing), in 1970, working for the old NCB in S. Wales......so, yes, that's 39 years and counting in this wonderful whacky world of IT. Been doing this ever since. Worked mostly for IT outsourcing companies, ICL, CSC, Unisys, and others, mostly on a contract basis, all over the UK and Holland. Gave up contracting in the early 2000's when the market was flooded with college-leavers willing to take half the going contract rate in order to get a job in IT, did a few years of private work before deciding it was too much aggro for too little money and took the job that I have now. I run desktop support, server support, e-mail support, manage the proxy/firewall, switches, networking....just about everything IT-related......except SIMS, which I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot barge-pole. Probably won't be posting here much, but I check the forum very couple of days, see what peeps are up to, what problems they encounter and how they solve those problems. I intend to see out my working life here, retire, pick up my pension and go to live in the South Seas, somewhere cheap and third world, preferably where the young ladies of whatever tribe revere grey-haired, gap-toothed, old western men, take care of their every need and you can all guess the rest, I'm sure.
