I'm trying to replace aspects on templates in SIMS but I don't know if it's possible. I have a template which I want to use for every subject. I know I can clone it, then replace results sets as necessary but I would also like to replace aspects. At the moment, I have to delete the aspects that need replacing and then add new ones. Because the aspects I want to replace use formulae relating to other aspects, I have to delete the formulae ones, add the new aspect and then add all the formulae aspects again and it is very time consuming. Does anyone know a way to simply change aspects like you can with results sets? Thanks!

I'm currently hosting my test site locally, so forgive me for not being able to provide a better example than my screenshot and the Edugeek Joomla demo site. Using the Axe Rescheek theme, does anybody know of a CSS fix so that sub menus within the main menu at the top? To use the Edugeek Joomla demo site as an example, let's say that I want to create a sub menu when I hover over the History option on the Curriculum menu to show 3 more options - say, Facilities, Homework and Timetable. I know how to set this up through the backend, but when I try it out (and in all browsers), these 3 options would appear elsewhere - in this case, probably floating just over the News menu option. There's a better example in my screenshot. I want to be able to hover over Sales in the SPA menu and have the Instrument Sales option appear just to the right, instead of over the Contact Us menu. I presume other people have had this problem? How have people got around this? Any ideas for a CSS fix? Thanks in advance.

hi all, i wish to export marksheets from sims.net into an existing spreadsheet. currently staff copy and paste names and grades from sims into a spreadsheet, which then calculates percentages and shows charts. i would prefer sims to export to this spreadsheet and give information without the copy+paste bit. i can export reports into a blank spreadsheet but that's as far as i've got. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I'm stumped - how do you modify the top portion of the front page of the EduGook template? It appears to be named eg_simple in the template Manager. Specifically I'd like to put in the school name and also change the shield image. Editing the template appears to require dealing with html directly. I tried looking for the image in the Media area and couldn't find the image representing the school name. Is there a way to either change the school name and drop it on the blue background. It would appear that this text could easily be changed and not hae to deal with photoshop or something. Is there a tutorial that takes one through an editing session for one section of a page? The userguide doesn't do it for me - I can't imagine giving that to someone in say the English Dept and ask them to maintain their portion of the site even if they were very interested. I presume I'm overlooking some obvious things so if someone can point me to some resources, I would be most appreciated.

Hi We are one of two schools which are in a ‘soft’ federation. We have remote access to our partner school’s SIMS Assessment application and network via Team Viewer. I would like to import a SIMS Assessment template from our partner school’s SIMS application. I’ve already saved it in .xml format on our partner school’s network, but unfortunately when I try to import the file into our own SIMS, the error message 'File cannot be imported as import type is invalid' appears. I'm obviously doing something wrong somewhere along the line. Would anyone be able to enlighten me accordingly, and/or show me where I can find a basic guide for importing templates/aspects/individual reports, etc. ? Very many thanks in anticipation.

Wonder if anybody can help me with this. I'm trying to export assessment templates from SIMS.net. I've gone through the "Routines > Data Out > Assessment > Export" and successfully exported that way, however all that is in the created XML file are the gradesets used on the template, there is nothing in there to do with the layout of the template itself. Anybody have any idea how you get the actual template in to an XML file that can then be imported back in to SIMS? (if that's possible) I want to study the XML structure so I can automate the creation of templates with a bit of code, it'll save me going in to each individual template to add the same column over and over again each time the decision is made to alter them in some way. EDIT: Seems to have been a glitch the first time I tried it, just tried again and this worked perfectly. Sorry for the pointless post, Mods feel free to delete or lock this thread as you see fit.

Hi, Am currently tweaking our VPN that is powered by ISA 2006 from a preshared key (not given to staff, has been deployed via CMAK), however I am wanting to switch to a certificate based system due to the added benefits, namely kicking a system off the VPN without having to change the preshared key. However I've come to a stop at the most basic part... Getting the template I've created in certtmpl.msc into my certificate authority, below are the steps I've taken (referenced from SAMS Microsoft ISA 2006 Book): Creating the template I've opened up certtmpl.msc on the CA and duplicated the template named Computer, from there I enabled the option to have the private key exported and given the template a name (VPN Clients). Importing the template Now this should be the easy bit, I open the CA console and navigate to Certificate Templates, right click New, Certificate Template, a window now appears listing all my templates I can import, however my template isn't there! So am hoping someone has done something similar, my CA is running Win2k3 R2 SP2 and is setup in Enterprise mode. Thanks

Afternoon First of all I am quite new to reporting in SIMS. I know how to create reports and can generally find the information I need and export it out but this has me stumped. I am trying to run a report that exports information into an Excel spreadsheet. The values that get exported need to be manipulated with formulas to generate the results we need. At the moment all I can do is select Standard Portrait or Standard Landscape in the Excel Settings area, but this generates a new speadsheet. Is there a way that I can create an Excel template that includes all these formulas, which SIMS uses to export the data to? That way I can include all the formulas and styling I need so the resulting spreadsheet is ready to be mail merged. I have noticed that there is a Report Template option, however there seems to be no documentation for this and I can't find any support for it anywhere. I might not have explained this very well so please let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for your help, James

Hi all, I'm currently assisting with data, though have limited experience with SIMS as a teacher. I was wondering if anyone can advise on how to create appropriate reports for upload into SISRA. I'm struggling to find all the appropriate columns required for "Prepare Student Data", but perhaps more importantly, I'm not sure how to get SIMS to create a grade list report either. Forgive such basic requests. I'm new to both SIMS and SISRA with respect to data, and just don't know where else to turn having exhausted available opportunities at my end. P.S If by some miracle someone has the perfect templates on their sims that they can export for me to download, that would be great. Just noticed this as an available option.

Hello, I am trying to create an exam entries and results broadsheet Template in SIMS Assessment. I have selected an exams entry aspect but when I try to pick this year's season resultset, June (Summer) 2018, it is missing from the list. I can see previous years' June (Summer) resultsets and the June (Summer) 2019 resultset. I have checked the following is correct: Go to Tools | Performance | Options and check that View Exams and Toggle Global Exams Filter are both ticked. I created a SIMS .net report showing all fields for all Resultsets beginning June (Summer). The field Key Stage (Resultset) under CESThirdPartyFields had the value F for June (Summer) 2018 but the values were empty for all the other Resultsets. I think this F in Key Stage (Resultset) is the cause because I found another exam season resultset that has this F and I can't see it when I try to use it with an aspect in an Assessment Template.I have logged a call but wondered if anyone else has come across this? The only other difference I can spot is that the June (Summer) 2018 season starts on 09/05/2018 instead of 01/05/2018. Can this date be edited without affecting exam entries and results? Thanks.

have a site (was a template) that is fine with firefox, chrome, and safari. but for some reason, IE9 won't display everything. it's missing the logo at the top that is within the header, and the tabs are unlabeled. site is We Are TV - Home if anyone wants to see if they can help out.. appreciate it!

We are running vSphere and rolling out users on Windows 11 25H2 on a couple different networks (one is air gapped and has a lot more restrictive GPOs). The template seems to work just fine with our software and such. We can spin up a New VM from Template just fine. The issue is when users login. 1. On both networks, when a user logs in, if they need to launch an RDP session, it pops up the error "The remote session was disconnected because license store creation failed with access denied. Please run remote desktop client with elevated privileges." After some digging, I discovered that this is caused by the user not having permissions to create/edit the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing folder to create a new HardwareID. I can either run RDP as admin and connect to another machine to fix this or run a quick registry file to fix this, but having to touch every one of the 500+ machines we need to roll out is/will be incredibly time consuming. Anyone know why it does this and a better fix? I could try to apply the registry fix to the template but I think part of the process during VM creation is set to delete that key so it recreates it. Why don't basic users have permission to create that ID? I would think a system process would do it. 2. Also on both networks though the issue acts a bit differently on each. On the internet system, users can login but when we try to run anything as admin, it pops up the error "explorer.exe - System Error. The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application." If we login as admin and install the app, it works fine and I believe the issue doesn't happen again if we switch back to the user and run as admin (I'll try to confirm this. We usually just install everything needed while we're logged in as admin.) On the air-gapped system, we get the same explorer error if we try to run things as an admin for a user however, if an admin without an existing profile on the system tries to login, they get the error immediately. The screen is black, no taskbar, nothing. I've tried getting into task manager and restarting explorer but it does nothing. Only admins that have a profile on the template before it's rolled out can login. Any other admins that try to login have the black screen issue. The weird thing is, once we install our multifactor authentication software (requests a token instead of a password), the issue clears up. Everyone can login just fine. The RDP issue still happens unless we run the mentioned fix but everything works fine otherwise. Everything I can find says to just run the DISM health scan and fix etc etc. Doing that takes well over 3 hours per user on the online systems. I have tried running that on the template to clean it up but it hasn't helped. I am running a script to uninstall a number of windows programs before shutdown because they seem to cause issues with the image deploying. With most of these, if I don't remove them, the system doesn't finish going through the OS Customizations (vSphere version of sysprep) and throws errors about "this app was installed for one user but not all users" and won't continue. Is it possible one of these needs to stay? Any suggestions or hints to fix these would be great. This follows on from a previous thread (import historical grade data, can it be done?) but started a new one as its a new topic. In relation to the assessment structure that I have outlined below, can someone please clarify simply the relationship between templates and marksheets and best practice in making them with minimal effort and maximum flexibility? I remember a data manager complaining to me in the past about the hundreds of templates - or was it marksheets? that they had to recreate each year and it seemed to me that they must be misunderstanding the process and there must be a better way. I want to do it that better way! The new assessment structure the deputy wants is as follows; Years 7-11 will all have 6 assessment points (AP_1 to AP_6) in each academic year, in every subject At each Assessment Point, every student will be scored as integer 1-9 in up to 6 Assessment Objectives (AO_01 to AO_6). The actual criteria for scoring differs between subjects but the name/description of each AO is the same between all subjects and years There will be a single baseline score for every student on entry. I am calling this Assessment point zero (AP_0). It won't change but might be allocated in any year, depending upon when they join the school. Following advice given to me in my other thread, I have: made 7 Aspects, one for each of the Assessment Objectives AO_0 to AO-6. I have allowed scores of 0-9 (where 0 will represent nothing has been entered by the staff) made 35 result sets, one for each yeargroup/assessment point; Year_07_AP_00, Year_07_AP_01, Year_07_AP_02 ... Year_11_AP_06 Now I want to make the templates and then the marksheets. As the assessment structure is the same for evey year group it would appear I only need one template for the whole school but the creation process asks me for Group and Course Link, implying I need a different one for every subject and / or year group. And then do I need a separate marksheet for every class - and have to re-create these marksheets every year when the class codes change? Is that what took so long for the data manager? Confused! Any advice on good template & marksheet creation very welcome. Incidentally also following advice I have assigned categories to the aspects but although I tried to assign all subjects to one aspect by ticking the box next to 'Subject' it didn't seem to do it. Surely I don't have to manually tick each subject category?
