Hi I am attempting to write a school timetable using NOVA T6, with some success last year. This year I am having a problem setting up optional classes in the 6th form. The setup is as follows: (1) Year 12 is setup with 5 blocks. Four are standard blocks full of 10 periods per fortnight A Level subjects. No problems here. (2) The 5th block contains a variety of "enrichment" subjects, e.g. Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Community Service, etc...... all of which run several classes,of differing numbers of periods and different (overlapping) times within the block. Students are then allowed to opt for as many of these options as they wish (i.e. they could go for 10 frees if they wish or any combination on enrichments.) I.e. an optional timetable. So you can't allocate students to more than one line within the block once in SIMS and hence we have problems with registration of students on optional courses and the exams officer goes crazy without established set lists on SIMS (being linked to course manager and therefore NOVA T6). Can anyone think of a solution. How could I set up this 5th block in such a way that students we can place students in multiple subjects within the block. I am happy to look at banding solutions or any other ideas. Many thanks Graham

Hi, Does anyone know where I can find the following information in SIMS please - Actually marks for an examination grade (I can find the maximum and minimum marks for the exam) - If the exam result has a grade partial absence Many thanks, Paul

Hi there, This is my first time setting up SIMS for a proper exam season. When attempting to import basedata for Edexcel GCSE, it gives me two file options - S6Y24_10.X01 (BTEC) and S6G24_10.X01 (GCSE). Having imported the BTEC file in first, it doesn't permit me to import the GCSE contents afterward. Evidently I'm doing something wrong, but no amount of googling has provided any results pertaining to this specific issue. Is there a workaround? Thanks for your time and any help. Pollock

Anyone seen this in Exam Organiser before? When looking at the 'Internal Candidate Browse' window in SIMS Exam Organiser, some candidates appear multiple times. This issue is also apparent in the 'Allocate UCI and Exam Numbers' window. We currently have one candidate who appears 4 times and one who appears twice. It is possible to delete the candidate from the 'Internal Candidate Browse' window but this seems to delete all records for that candidate, not just one. It is also possible to allocate a UCI and Exam Number using the 'Allocate UCI and Exam Numbers' window but this only allocates the UCI and Exam Number to one of the records and the UCI and Exam numbers do not go on to appear on the student record in SIMS as we would expect. The candidates in question do not have multiple SIMS student records.

Hi All, We've just come across this problem where nobody can access the SIMS Examinations Module. It hangs for a bit, and then asks for a login, and if you put valid SIMS login details in, it doesn't accept them. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it? Thanks, Roger

Hi, folks. I've no idea if such a thing exists, but here goes! I'm looking for an application which will allow the exam management folks in our school to book rooms/desks for pupils sitting exams. In my tiny mind.... There's a list of all of the pupils sitting exams There's a list of the available rooms, and how many desks are available. Staff can go into the calendar. 26/04/23 - create a slot for 09:00 to 11:00 called "Higher Maths" Add room 7 which has 10 available desks Drag/drop the relevant pupils into each of the available desks. Something like that, anyway. I'd looked at various room booking systems, but they only seem to book the room - not the people, so you're still jumping between spreadsheet and application. Is such a thing feasible? Oh - and ideally free. Or cheapish (Don't ask for much, do I?!)

Morning all, I am in post as Exams officer for Maternity cover. We have had a few changes to exam results due to appeals for the Summer exams. Do the amended grades come through VIA A2C for the handful of students? to import into exams organiser, or is there a manual way to override the original grades? Thanks in advance

Hello, I am trying to create an exam entries and results broadsheet Template in SIMS Assessment. I have selected an exams entry aspect but when I try to pick this year's season resultset, June (Summer) 2018, it is missing from the list. I can see previous years' June (Summer) resultsets and the June (Summer) 2019 resultset. I have checked the following is correct: Go to Tools | Performance | Options and check that View Exams and Toggle Global Exams Filter are both ticked. I created a SIMS .net report showing all fields for all Resultsets beginning June (Summer). The field Key Stage (Resultset) under CESThirdPartyFields had the value F for June (Summer) 2018 but the values were empty for all the other Resultsets. I think this F in Key Stage (Resultset) is the cause because I found another exam season resultset that has this F and I can't see it when I try to use it with an aspect in an Assessment Template.I have logged a call but wondered if anyone else has come across this? The only other difference I can spot is that the June (Summer) 2018 season starts on 09/05/2018 instead of 01/05/2018. Can this date be edited without affecting exam entries and results? Thanks.

Very annoying issue, and one that seems to come back after every update. Modules outside of the SIMS front end - Exams Organiser, for instance - refuse to work and cause the main front end to crash out. I have already checked the SIMS.ini and Connect.ini files, which are the first port of call for these issues and have resolved it in the past, so please don't point me to KB. Connect.ini is in the Windows folder and points, as usual, to the mapped drive for sims. Sims.ini is in the Windows folder and also the prog file\sims .net folder, and the links inside point to all the right places as far as I can tell. When you try to launch Exams Organiser, you get the fault code 1573-0499-9000, for which there is no result in the Capita support site, and the description: The system cannot find the file specified : System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception. The exams exe file is in its usual home in program files\sims .net. Capita are dragging their heels responding and we're getting a little anxious. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi All, Our Exams Manager has raised a query with us... please see screenshot - She does not want the TBA entries listed on the students' exam timetables... ... my guess is that this is designed behaviour and waiting for the dates and times to be input manually to Exams Organiser? However - I've promised I'll ask if anyone knows how to remove them... Thanks! Gareth

Can anyone offer advice on the best way to manage exams administration across two separate schools using one SIMS Database? We currently have one centre number. But from this September our sister school that opened last you will also be offering qualifications. We have the same SIMS database across both sites. Can anyone recommend the best way forward with this? Do we try and administer exams using one centre number across both sites and deal with logistical problems like exam papers turning up at the main registered site and physically splitting / moving these paper packs on the day of the exam (AM/PM) or do you think we should have a separate exam number for the other school and somehow get Exams in SIMS to work with two separate centre numbers. Does anyone have experience with two centre numbers and one SIMS Database. What about sending amendment files / A2C connection? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
