Hello We want to hide the SEN Status and SEN Needs fields from the Additional Student Information area within SIMS. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about it. On a related note, is it possible to introduce what is currently an aspect into Additional Student Information. This would ensure this aspect is available to every student focussed marksheet. Hi We use SIMS and Google Classroom. At the start of each academic year I would like to be able to set up the classrooms on Inset days - i.e. prior to the timetable becoming live. Is there a way in which this is possible, i.e. to get classroom to look forward two days and pull down the new classes. (in the same way you can set an effective date in SIMS). Any help appreciated Graham

Hello I am trying to reimplement the KS4 resources using the latest updated version from the summer. The problem I am having is with the JC41 gradeset for combined science. When I try to do assessment mapping of our exam result aspects into the TP aspects, the gradesets are inconsistent. In that I have only the option to match say 8-7 to 7+ or 8-, when in theory I would like 7.5 points. I am guessing this is associated with not having made an appropriate gradeset available to SIMS for this process. This ties in with when I manage the performance indicators, the QN for combined science has the incorrect gradeset (JC40 instead of the required JC41). Could anyone help with the steps required to rectify this issue. I only dabble in this kind of thing once a year, so all help appreciated, Many thanks Graham

Hi and thanks eean, much appreciated. Sounds like method 2 is indeed the way to go. Would this need to be done one marksheet at a time, I am presuming so as the new aspects will need to be in the marksheet template? Sorry if this is a basic question, I am a relative SIMS novice. gg

Hello SIMS Aspect Names I have inherited an historic system of marksheets whereby aspects were created and named by result set,i.e the aspect names are Year 8 Spring Exam, Year 8 Summer Exam, Year 9 Autumn exam and therefore there is only one realisation of each aspect, done in the appropriate result set. The grade set in each of these aspects is identical Now for analysis using tracking grids, or result set analysis, ideally I would have the same aspect in several different result sets. So I essentially need to unify these aspect names and reapply in appropriate grade sets, but critically without losing the existing data. Is there a way of doing so? (This may of course be a bigger project as I am guessing many of the reports run by the school office are dependent on the old aspects, but that question for another day). Solved it! For anyone whose interested, in SIMS, I went through the Tools -> Setups -> Subjects menu and change the title of the subject here to "Study Period" whilst maintaining the same code. Timetables now look as desired.

Hello I am trying to change the description of "free periods" on the sixth form timetable. Historically they have been labelled as "supervised study" and are now to be called "Study Period". For one reason or another they are done as a subject in NOVA T6. So I tried to change the subject description to "Study Period" but they come through on SIMS as the old "Supervised Study". I have found out through initializing (but not completing) an Refresh SQL Links that the SQL descrption is still "Supervised Study" and yet the T6 description is "Study Period". How do I go about telling SIMS to change the SQL descrption to "study period"? Many thanks in advance, Graham

A technical question about size of the cells in the block diagram. When placing staff in a large 30 period 2 week block, I am forever scrolling up and down to find fits / solutions. Is there a way of reducing the cell size, or indeed placing the block side by side so that you can see the whole block at once? Thanks Graham

Hello I am new to Options this year but have managed to set up implementations for 9 into 10 and 11 into 12. All good. Now due to staff changes my head has asked me to look into plausible restructures of groups from 10 into 11. So I need the current 10s in Options, ideally in their classes, so that I can play around with possibilities. However there is no historic implementation as this is the first year of using Options. Can it be done, or would I need to enter all choices on a fresh implementation? Thanks Graham

Thanks again RootsSchlmp, I am very grateful. I am beginning to get my head around what you've said. So having played this morning, I have worked out how to put blocks on top of each other. This seems to be the way to go. All girls in Year 12 are in the same band as we only offer A Levels and none of the more vocational routes. And the extra block does not clash with the A Level blocks (an enrichment period every day). So am I right in thinking the following: (1) Create blocks for each enrichment subject in the one common band. Would I need to create a dummy study period row in the extra blocks so that each student can be allocated something in the block? (2) Place these blocks on top of each other in the scheduling. These seems easy to do. (3) When in SIMS, allocate students to enrichments on the basis of their choices and then remove from the inevitable clashes (with the dummy study periods). Hello A big thank you for taking the time to reply. Not sure I understand however. If we have an extra band, then presumably you'd have blocks within it. Do I place all enrichments in one block in this extra band, in which case I'm not sure how it's different? Students wanting to do say food hygiene and community service as their enrichments, but not general studies (say) would still be doing a selection of more than one from the block. Hi I am attempting to write a school timetable using NOVA T6, with some success last year. This year I am having a problem setting up optional classes in the 6th form. The setup is as follows: (1) Year 12 is setup with 5 blocks. Four are standard blocks full of 10 periods per fortnight A Level subjects. No problems here. (2) The 5th block contains a variety of "enrichment" subjects, e.g. Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Community Service, etc...... all of which run several classes,of differing numbers of periods and different (overlapping) times within the block. Students are then allowed to opt for as many of these options as they wish (i.e. they could go for 10 frees if they wish or any combination on enrichments.) I.e. an optional timetable. So you can't allocate students to more than one line within the block once in SIMS and hence we have problems with registration of students on optional courses and the exams officer goes crazy without established set lists on SIMS (being linked to course manager and therefore NOVA T6). Can anyone think of a solution. How could I set up this 5th block in such a way that students we can place students in multiple subjects within the block. I am happy to look at banding solutions or any other ideas. Many thanks Graham
