  8. Decided I’m going to get a supermicro box and run either opnsense or sophos xg

  10. Im lucky at my schools as Staff mostly use the ticketing system. We still have the occasional one or two who shouts down the radio lol I think why staff use it so much is cause we really really push it and enforce it.
  11. From Reddit : Looks KB5009557 (2019) and KB5009555 (2022) are causing something to fail on domain controllers, which then keep rebooting every few minutes.
  12. Is port 53 open on your firewall on your dc and at your network edge Can you resolve any dns names at all ?
  13. Any chance you could shrink the vhds instead of switching them over to dynamic
  14. Im sure you can change from fixed to dynamically expanding , i would take a backup of your vhds first just in case
  15. Via Hyper-V manager, Edit disk, select disk then change to dynamically expanding
  16. Sounds like the VHDS might be a fixed size causing the space issue on the host
  17. Would go for storage spaces , I’ve always been HP for servers but dell have impressed me recently with there r640 great for hyper v / VMware
  18. My home dcs have 1.5gb each and they run fast tbh , Work ones have 6gb
  19. So this isnt work related, I’ve spun up a windows server vps in OVH recently and I’m looking to have a vpn to my home infrastructure. I can’t see any offerings from ovh for this unless I buy additional services. What I was thinking was installing the rras role on my vps and then on a vm at my home for a sort of site to site thing. Anyone attempted something like this before?

  21. Had a fair few issues with my sky box when I was with them. Ended up using dhcp / dns on a windows box and used Google’s dns as forwarders
  22. Like others have mentioned it’s hard to get downtime approved, these places run 24/7/365 and email is a core part of their infrastructure and communication
