Dns Forwarder and Root Hints issue- WSrv2019 Dns Server
Jcx500 replied to sshabir's topic in Windows Server 2019
Is port 53 open on your firewall on your dc and at your network edge Can you resolve any dns names at all ? -
Any chance you could shrink the vhds instead of switching them over to dynamic
-
Im sure you can change from fixed to dynamically expanding , i would take a backup of your vhds first just in case
-
Via Hyper-V manager, Edit disk, select disk then change to dynamically expanding
-
Sounds like the VHDS might be a fixed size causing the space issue on the host

So this isnt work related, I’ve spun up a windows server vps in OVH recently and I’m looking to have a vpn to my home infrastructure. I can’t see any offerings from ovh for this unless I buy additional services. What I was thinking was installing the rras role on my vps and then on a vm at my home for a sort of site to site thing. Anyone attempted something like this before?

Had a fair few issues with my sky box when I was with them. Ended up using dhcp / dns on a windows box and used Google’s dns as forwarders -
Like others have mentioned it’s hard to get downtime approved, these places run 24/7/365 and email is a core part of their infrastructure and communication
