Hi Once you have recovered the files you can then import. See Import Settings from a Group Policy Object Sukh

Hi Check where and who the policy is being applied to. Check if the policy is being applied at the computer section or user section then make sure the policy is applied to the users (where they reside) or computers (where they reside). Sukh

Hi GPO's are stored in Sysvol, if this isn't being backed up then you wont be able to restore. You may be able to recover the GPO file if you use a 3rd party utility to recover the deleted files. There are some free tools which may do this and some other which you have to pay for. Sukh

Adding address books to Live@edu
sukh replied to RobJohnson's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi There is another thread on here which has ideas. Discussions have taken place. In short, if you don't use ILM or similar then the process is manual, however it can be scripted. You can export contact and import. Search for a thread with keywords "export gal" Sukh -
Hi Yes you can, look at the MSFT technet site. Sukh

Hi 1. You mentioned the products which have been installed. My understanding from the thread is this covers only AV. You have not mentioned AS. 2. When external mail enters your Exch Org, do you have any gateways before the message goes to the BH? 3. Do you screen AS yourself or 3rf party, e.g MessageLabs/Postini? 4. Who received the spam messages within your Org? What time? who was the sender? Track the message using ESM and determine the source. 5. Check the message headers and look at orginating IP and SCL level. Post example of spam and message headers in post. Sukh

How do I move the swap / paging file
sukh replied to speckytecky's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Hi Follow MSFT best practise. Don't forget to have a mini page file for the OS boot volume, I will need to confirm this, however it may have only been for Win2K. Ensure it's big enough to capture RAM for full mem dumps for analysis. Sukh- 1 reply

can you up the logging to at expert/verbose on the CAS and reproduce the problem. Then check event logs. MSExchange OWA\Core MSExchange OWA\Configuration MSExchange OWA\Proxy Few other things you can try. 1. Start Windows in safe mode with networking and test OWA. 2. Disable Add-ins in IE 3. Start IE in safe mode 4. Run test-owaconnectivity for a problem user several times and check latency/errors. 5. If all fails, I think it may be worth doing a network capture. Use Netmon to perform the capture, on the server and client and reproduce problem.

Hi My only assumption is when the source machine was imaged, the sysprep was not run correctly or there may have been some sort of corruption in the process. Finish preparing your machine for imaging and run sysprep. After you have finished, deploy the image to one other machine and test with all GPO's. If all good, then rollout to remaining PC's. Let me know how you get along. Thanks Sukh

Hi Can you move the PC which you have just built to the same OU as the other problematic computers and ensure that the policies which are being applied are the ones that you intend to apply in the end. There may have been an issue with your image which may have caused this but I can't comment on this as I don't have the history. If you can, do the above test and let me know. Thanks Sukh

Hi You may be able to achieve this on Win 7 (certain editions and if the hardware requirements are met). Read BitLocker Drive Encryption Technical Overview Recovery password The recovery password is a 48-digit, randomly-generated number that can be created during BitLocker setup. If the computer enters recovery mode, the user will be prompted to type this password using the function keys (F0 through F9). The recovery password can be managed and copied after BitLocker is enabled. Using the BitLocker control panel, the recovery password can be printed or saved to a file for future use. Sukh

Hi Np, if you get stuck you can always come back. Sukh

Hi Have you read the stickys under this forum? Sukh

My reasonsing, is that I am trying to rule out CAS server and try and focus on the issue. If we can point to the other CAS server and perform some tests, this will at least indicate an issue with the CAS rather than users. There's a few tests we will have to do, from the client end as usual, new user, new PC, exisiting user, existing PC etc..

Hi Can you as a test, rebuild one the the PC's from the recovery partition and join to the domain. Before rebuilding, can you ensure the computer account has been deleted from AD? After this, if we still have an issue, I will send you information on more logs which I'd like you to collect from two problematic PC's. Let me know how you are going to proceed? Thanks Sukh

Hi When the laptop were purchases, did they come with a recovey partition and if so did you wipe this then installed a clean version of Windows 7, if so how? where did you get the media from? The PC's were provided by the manufacturer and you performed a sysprep on these PC's. What licenses did you use for the laptop deployment and for the PC's? Thanks Sukh

[wds] Access Denied When Attempting To Add New Install Image
sukh replied to DreddMetal's topic in O/S Deployment
Can you also check the permissions on the subfolders of the RemoteInstall folder. Not sure if you are using groups for your images? If so, check the folder which represents the group under the RemoteInstall folder. You will need Full Control permission on the actual Image Folder too. I know you mentioned you are domain admin. Can you also add your account that you are logged on with to the local admin account and ensure this account has the permissions as above.
