  1. Hi Can you got to the RemoteInstall folder and create files and subfolder?# Sukh
  2. Hi Leave the GUID for now. Before you rebuild a machine, can you clarify/confirm the following. 1. Did you build a image yourself for these problem machines? 2. The recovery partition is as when you received the machines from the manufacturer? 3. When you build the machines, you use your own image? 4. How do you build the machines? Deployment method? Image creation? Thanks Sukh
  3. Hi I'm just on my way to work (on the train) can you check the GUID of two machines that have the issue? At this point in time I don't know if you have the but if these effected PC's are not being used, can you do a fresh install on one, I.e use the Win 7 dvd and install manually? While we continue to troubleshoot? If you do decide to rebuild manually, please delete the computer account for that PC first. Let me know your thoughts? Thanks Sukh
  4. Hi I agree with Richard and ask the question, why do you want to move away from MSFT? Licenses are reasonable for the education sector (depending on the type of establishment, even so). Also, in terms of support, will be more difficult. If you leave the establishment then they will be in a more difficult situation to support the infrastructure, more costs involved to find the correct personnel. Sukh
  5. Hi See this Windows Time Service and Internet Communication Sukh
  6. You still have to buy licenses and is quite expensive. Sukh
  7. NP. You cant with ADFS, maybe confused with ADAM and AD LDS which is the newer version which is different.
  8. Hi For an educational establishment I would not do the Configuring and Troubleshooting Identity and Access Solutions AD 2008. You won't generally use these features within this enviornment. I have personally used this technology in the private sector and see no benefit compared to Planning and Managing Windows 7 Desktop Deployments and Environments (6294A). In my personal experience when I delivered Course 6426A, over my teaching years, I have not had one delegate from the education establishment (schools, sixth forms, colleges). (6294A) is much more beneficial to you which you will most probably use in your establishment. There are a number of companies offereing both courses but I would look around to get value for money. Sukh
  9. Hi Thanks for the update. Can you let me know how you get along. Sukh
  10. Hi What you need is Windows RMS. Sukh
  11. Try to using csvde -i -f yourcsvfilename.csv. Create one entry in the csv file and test.
  12. Also, am I right to assume that you have created two images? One for the Laptops and another for the computers?
  13. Hi I dont believe it has anything to do with the WSUS GPO. I just wanted to rule out GPO's. The Operational Logs indicate connectivity issues. If you run the gpupdate /force, are you able to reproduce? Also, did you try the REG key? Thanks Sukh
  14. Hi Can you configure the following on the GPO and assign to the computer which is having the issue. You may want to create a Test OU and move the the problem computer into this OU and then apply the policy to this Test OU. It seems like most of your settings are in the default domain policy. If this is the case, as many settings as you can and then assign. Set the value to 45s AS A TEST, IT MAY BE BETTER TO ENTER THIS KEY ON THE REG OF THE PROBLEM PC. SEE THE REG KEY BELOW. Create the key if it doesn't exist. Policy Location: Computer Configuration > Policies > Admin Templates > System > Group Policy Setting Name: Startup policy processing wait time Registry Key: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System!GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue Thanks Sukh
  15. Hi As a test can you disable the WSUS GPO, then run gpupdate /force. Also, just to confirm is this issue on all the PC's you imaged? Thanks Sukh
  16. Hi Can you try again, that GPO_Op.zip seems corrupt. Thanks Sukh
  17. Hi Can you also send me the GPO Operational logs from Event Viewer? Thanks Sukh
  18. Hi While I look at the logs, can you confirm when you removed the PC from the domain, did you delete the computer account, wait for replication so it doesn't exist. Then RENAME the computer to a different NAME completely and then join to domain? Thanks Sukh
  19. Hi You can have DNS running on both servers that's fine. Can you run GPRESULT /H GPReport.html on the problem PC and send/post the result? Can you also send/post the Group Policy Operation Logs from Event Viewer. Thanks Sukh
  20. Hi Can you also, remove one PC from the domain and delete the computer account associated with that from AD. Then rename the PC and join it to the domain with a new computer name and let me know the results. Thanks Sukh
  21. Hi Migrated users will be stamped with the Exchange 2003 Recipient Policy. In a co-existing environment with Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010, The Default Policy in Exchange 2010 is the legacy from Exchange 2003. There is no need to create Exchange 2010 E-mail Address Policies. Any new users created on 2010 will be stamped with the Exchange 2003 policy. You can change the Exchange 2010 policies after you plan to decommsion your last Exchange 2003 server. Sukh 3. Default Policy is used for the migrated users and the newly created users in Exchange 2010 by default. If you would like to change the default policy settings, you have to upgrade by running 'Set-EmailAddressPolicy' cmdlet as below in EMS as it was created with legacy version of Exchange. Set-EmailAddressPolicy “Default Policy” -IncludedRecipients AllRecipients
  22. Hi How many DC have you got? How many of them are running DNS? On the client machine can you connect to \\yourdomain.com\sysvol\yourdomain.com? Can you run netdiag and check for errors? Thanks Sukh
  23. Create a record in your internal dns for, cname pointing to your external url. You're still hitting the same CAS, that's why you have two URL's. As a test can you point the clients to the 2nd CAS?
  24. Hi Try to use the command below netdom trust TrustingDomainName /d:TrustedDomainName /remove /UserD:User/PasswordD: /force Enter the appropiate details in the Trusting and Trusted domain. The force parameter should remove all metadata and trusts for domains where the DC cannot be contacted or has been decomm'ed. Sukh
